everything's just god-awful in twelve, a million grimy people and a million grimy rats all trying to scratch each other's eyes out.

my vision's been red for a long time, all monochrome shades of blood and bruises and bullshit. that's what life's all about after all; staying on the winning side, talk shit get hit.

i'd know. my parents got taken out by some dirt scum street gang two years ago and even though they got what was coming, there's still cigarette burns on my arms, holes in the plaster walls where one too many fists punched through. i swear i woulda done them in myself had i gotten the chance, set the house on fire and taken off. but the boys cut me a deal to work for them, put more meat on my bones, and that was that.

that's how i got started anyways, hanging around in all the underground spots and breathing real fuckin' fire. ha not really though, i'd swipe some of the extra lamp oil, mist it out over one of those cheap shitty lighters and there'd always be a crowd by noon.

that's when the pickpockets come in, nickels in their hands and pennies at my feet, it's a quick way to make a little cash, even if i burnt some little girl's dress once. an accident i swear. she straight up stabbed me for it though, took me by surprise and swiped my shit, left me out in the street like trash.

but i've always been a survivor, found her again and repaid the favour, left a little calling card. it's all one big learning curve here.

fire demon, they say, don't cross that one. he'll chew you up and spit you out, burn your body down until there's nothing left.

hell yeah, man.
