It’s something Julian should be used to, being the one who is believed to be the scared reincarnation of their beloved martyr, Malachi, but he believes that the resemblances end there. There may be not much of a lion in his heart but he makes up for that with his charms—deemed to be always so brash and always so irresistible, bright like sunbursts. His charisma is carved out of a storybook prince like the rest of him is.

“There’s more to me than my eyes.” He looks over at his father, the grin on his face immaculate and picture-perfect from smiling till his cheeks ached at a mirror. “I am going to be a prince, Father, someone who the people adore and give their hearts to.”

Someone who will live for others, instead of dying.

“Beautiful princes and beautiful beasts,” John Le Roux muses, gingerly closing the gold-cladded photo album. His tone is almost wistful. “There’s no difference between the two.”
