district six :: maeve idlewild

• twin
• wishes she had the guts to actually be rebellious
• but she doesn't
• prides herself on having more guts than her sister at least (low bar)
• always feels like she's competing with Roux
• second best syndrome
• prone to self-sabotage
• at least then she can pretend being second best is her own choice
• wants to hate her sister
• her sister is her best friend
• says she's forgiven Roux for stealing the attention of her crush
• definitely has not forgiven her
• holds grudges for-basically-ever
• they've been on eggshells for the past month because of it
• passive aggressive
• tap dances when she's really angry so the clacking noise will bother whoever she's mad at
• hasn't actually enjoyed tap dancing since she was eight
• isn't good at it
• never was
• at her angriest she will stop talking and only communicate via post-it notes
• her dads are supportive no matter what, be it working through her emotions or trying to find her way in the world
• lately she's been trying to fake delinquency for attention
• hides vodka bottles full of water and rubbing alcohol where she thinks they'll be found
• has a cigar box of actual grass clippings rolled into gum wrapper joints stashed under her bed
• collects empty cough syrup bottles in the back of her closet
• had a friend steal her a pack of clove cigarettes that she has been carrying in her back pocket
• didn't dare to steal them herself
• she tried smoking one but hated the taste
• still, they smell good
• even though they've gone stale
• if her sister or either of her dads has found any of her fake paraphernalia then they haven't been concerned enough to confront her yet
• all she wants is for someone to be concerned
• even if the concern is as fake as the problems she's trying to create for herself
• but obviously Maeve does need help
• because the bigger problem is very real

• zero interest in having guts
• always feels like she's competing with herself
• so likeable
• ...annoyingly likeable
• but definitely a tryhard about it
• secretly wishes she weren't such a compulsive tryhard
• her sister is her best friend
• tries her best to help Maeve succeed
• but all too often that backfires and only makes Roux look better still
• accidentally stole the attention of Maeve's crush by trying to help
• it is not and never was reciprocated
• but that only seems to make Maeve more pissed
• they've been on eggshells for the past month because of it
• wears her heart on her sleeve
• wishes she knew what to do with her heart
• ultimately feels like a jack of all trades and a master of none
• feels like her life should have more direction
• but she isn't sure what she actually likes
• her dads are supportive no matter what, be it working through her emotions or trying to find her way in the world
• half the reason she tries so hard at absolutely everything she does is the hope that maybe the next thing she does will be something she truly enjoys
• so far the only thing she's figured out is that she likes making other people happy
• which is why she tries so hard to be everyone's friend
• and also why she gets so upset when Maeve is mad at her and she can't figure out how to fix it
• turns out Maeve is the one thing she's not very good at
• lately she's gotten quietly bitter about it
• wondering if Maeve is doing it on purpose, just for the sake of "winning"
• she would gladly lose if that would make things better
• but it doesn't seem like that would actually help
• she has even noticed some of the fake booze and fake drugs in Maeve's room
• but she hasn't said anything about it because she knows that's not the kind of help her sister actually needs
• but obviously Maeve does need help
• of some kind neither of them have really figured out yet
