And I need you tonight
I need you right now
I know deep within my heart
It doesn't matter if it's wrong or right
I really need you tonightA week and a half before Reaping Day… Saber took a deep breath as he stretched out his large arms. He was wrapping up his workout for the day under the tedious eyes of his trainers. He and Charm were the favorites of the gym to enter the Games this year, so training was becoming grueling as Reaping Day grew near. It was a topic the both of them had been skirting around and tension was constantly high between them. Saber wanted more than anything to be Reaped. Being in the Games was the only way he’d ever earn the acceptance and praise of his parents.
For a while after the two began dating, nearly seven months ago, Saber would often bring up the Games and Reaping Day and talk of arenas, but it quickly became obvious Charm didn’t want to speak of it. Every time Saber would mention anything regarding them his boyfriend would give him the cold shoulder, so finally he learned to stop mentioning outside of their time in training.
With Reaping Day just around the corner now though, the topic was becoming less avoidable, and Saber’s eagerness to be in the Deca-Quell was almost unbearable to contain.
A bead of sweat rolled down his nose as he walked past the other elite careers and approached the blonde boy on the gymnastics bars. He stretched out his back, twisting it to the side until he heard the cracks that relieved all his built up tension. Quietly, he leaned up against the concrete wall beside the bars and watched as Charm flipped around on them gracefully. He smiled as he reflected on fighting with this agile boy for the last several years. The two were completely different in every way possible, from personality, to appearance, to fighting techniques, but in the boy who had so long held the title of Saber’s “rival”, Saber found the only person to ever make him feel complete or loved since the loss of his sister so many years ago.
Some people may find it odd that two boys who were, and still are in some ways, constantly at each other’s throats to be dating, but Saber considers the first day he kissed Charm the best decision he ever made.
Saber looked up at a large clock on the wall that said it was around ten at night. He looked back over at Charm still going at it on the gymnastics bars and spoke, “Alright Bright-eyes, haven’t you had enough of that for the day? We’ve got something better waiting for us at home.” He gave Charm a quick wink and laughed.
