Appearance:
Standing at about 6'0, it's surprisingly easy to not notice Spark. His dull brown hair does little to draw attention in its cut, short state, and his athletic build might seem a bit commonplace. He does little to draw attention to himself; his clothes are usually simple, flat colored things that fit him a bit loosely. The tone of his skin is not quiet tan, as if he spends a good amount but not all of his time indoors. Possibly the only noticeable thing on him is his eyes, slightly sunken in, slight shadow is cast over the bright blue of his Irises, giving him an intelligent look.Personality:
If you were to go out of your way to pay attention to Spark, you might notice the dexterity in his fingers, manipulating things with precise delicacy. You might also notice he has a twitch in his right arm, the elbow twisting at inopportune moments, often wrecking his concentration. He almost always wears a serious expression on his face, sometimes replacing it with a bored, concentrated or thoughtful look as the situation demands. His eyes aren’t often still without something to focus them, they dart around taking in every detail they can. A careful study of his build would suggest the ability to run for a good while, the muscles focus in mostly the lower body, and the upper body lacking a bit in comparison
Spark is a very inward person, made painfully obvious do to him being a mute. Attention or care is rarely given to another person’s spoken words, at least not apparently. His gaze will often drift away from a person during conversations, or his concentration will seem utterly on a project rather then someone speaking. His handwriting has become remarkably legible and quick, do to years of it being his primary means of communication. He has a deceptively sharp wit most don’t give him credit for because most comments are made only to him.History:
Usually calm and collected, Spark becomes increasingly frustrated when people don’t understand him. His twitch will become more prominent, often making it even harder for him to communicate or work. After being brought to the brink of sanity during these episodes, he will be forced to find some place quiet to cool down. Another thing he tends to do is forget when he’s not in his head. If he’s typing out a long line of test, or taking notes on a speaker and starts expressing his thoughts, pretty soon all the thoughts in his head find their way onto the paper or screen.
Spark has a rather annoyed and depressing view on his muteness. He hates the fact that any expressed thought of his is documented, and whenever given the chance he carries a lighter to destroy the used pages from his notepad. When anyone ribs him about being mute, he will simply ignore them, but if they persist, his mind gives way to increasingly darker fantasies of dealing with them. The fantasies start out with him cracking a comeback at them in his unused voice, but after about the half-year mark, they will have escalated to him taking a knife to their tongue. Though he hates being mute, and he could probably fix it a dozen ways, he won’t, not while he can use the money more productively and the Hunger Games still hang over his head
Spark was born the son of an engineer and a programmer, and grew up in a fairly comfortable financial situation. The first major event in his life happened around when he was 7 years old while he was trying to act like his father. He knew his father tinkered with things, so Spark got a hold of a screwdriver and decided that he was going to take apart and ‘fix’ the digital clock that was still plugged in. The old breakers tripped just a second to late, and Spark received a severe shock through a good portion of his body. Though he managed to survive, Spark lost the use of his tongue and voice and developed a twitch in his right arm.Codeword: oDair
Some time after that incident, Spark’s parents had been saving money to try and remove the paralysis of his tongue and fix his voice, when his father was also involved in an accident. Spark’s father lost his hand altogether, and when his parents tried to continue with the plan to heal Spark they only got the reply ‘if my dad can live without a hand, I can live without a voice’. Since then he has declined any offer to repair his voice, repeating (or rewriting, rather) the sentence as something of a motto. Spark followed his mother’s career after that, eventually getting a job as a programmer as well, and helping to provide financial stability. The incident did little to repel Spark though, and he still aspires be as good at tinkering as his father, and still works with some things as a secret hobby.
Spark quickly learned the art of free running once he started heading to school on his own. His house not the closest to the school, and it being hard for him to talk his way out of being late, he developed a rather impressive course to and from the school. Despite his efforts, a classmate eventually took notice of him, and started making fun of him being mute. Spark was able to endure this, but he started fantasizing about getting even, cutting out the bullies tongue. He didn’t particularly enjoy the violent image, but it still came to him. He even threatened the boy on one occasion, putting a crafting knife into his own mouth and miming the cutting of the tongue to get his point across. This soon became the big rumor around school, until present day, where most students believe that he actually did the deed of cutting out the boys tongue without provocation.
