Viridian Harper

With eyes glued to the screen, Viridian watched his sister. It wasn't hard to tell they were related for each had a shock of blonde hair. They had the trade marks of Careers and, of course, the same name. Harper. They had never really been close. Viridian never saw much of his big sister with her always sneaking around the District getting herself into trouble. Training schedules can be conflicting and the last thing you want to do once your tired body is allowed to leave is hang out with your sibling.
He wished he had. Viridian was angry at himself or not thinking about her more, or talking to her more. Even if she never responded at least he tried. His older, distant sister, the kind that sneaks out of windows on Reaping day. The kind that are excited to go into the Games and forget whoever they leave behind. The switchblade she had given to him before she left was heavy in his pocket. The boy carried it with him everywhere, fidgeting with it, cleaning it. He had to keep it perfect for when Stark came home or else she'd kill him.
She's coming home he told himself over and over. And once she does then you can be a proper brother. The images on the screen kept flipping between three battles. Top six, holding both of District One's tributes. The air was full of excitement. At this rate the District had a one out of three shot at winning. There were benches were citizens could sit and watch the Games but the blonde boy was on his feet, no doubt blocking someone's view with his height. When they have a relative in the Arena, then they can complain.
The coverage finally flipped to Stark fighting off the District Four boy. Viridian's heart flew into his throat, his fingers tight around the switchblade in his pocket. The boy didn't want to miss a second of it. Stark's gaff flew out, ripping a gash in the other tribute's stomach. The younger Harper let out a cheer, waiting for his sister to stab the life out of the kid. However, District four's boy landed a blow on her forehead, she tried to stab back at him but missed. No... Viridian watched wide eyed, waiting for what would happen next when the footage changed to Jae Moreno fighting some little slip of a girl.
"Damn it!" he growled at the screen. He could care less about the other fights, he needed to know if Stark was okay! Others around him cheered for the male representing their District, but Viridian was silent. Come on Stark. Kick his ass! He shouldn't be scared, he knew how capable the eldest Harper child was but still a pit of worry was growing in his stomach. Five more still have to die before she wins, can she last that long?
