Name:
Tyler Westbrook
Age:
16
Gender:
Male
District/Area:
5
Appearance:
(Sam Harwood)
Like most identical twins, it is nearly impossible to tell Tyler and his brother Avery apart. Slightly taller than standard height, he is rather noticeable in a crowd. With a dark blonde hair color, blue eyes, and softer facial features, he's considered attractive by most people in his district. While he humbly acknowledges that, in the eyes of others, he is somehow attractive,he doesn't really believe it.
Tyler's physique is perhaps less than adequate then that of a well-trained, well-nourished Career. He has little body fat, little muscle, and a less than average nutritional diet, a result of living in one of the poorer families of the district. With virtually no time to work building his strength due to school, a job, and a difficult home life, Tyler is not quite as strong or as well built as some of his peers.
Personality:
Tyler is a reasonably friendly, outgoing individual. Like Avery, he has his fair share of friends around the district, but his only really close friend is his brother, staying true with the classic twin connection stereotype. Tyler is the more outgoing of the two, being a bit more friendly in general and tends to be good-natured and kind to those he holds dear, rarely losing his temper. He's had some success in the romantic department, he has had a couple of girlfriends at one point or another.
However, he can also be quite moody and brooding at times, as the Westbrook family has their fair share of hardships. Tyler is usually better at keeping his emotions under control and not lashing at others, but he does slip up from time to time. The main cause of this is the emotional instability that passes from the twin's parents’ work in the main power plant, which is easily picked up by the empathetic twins themselves.
Both twins are notorious for having a nasty temper when pushed to it, although if you manage to get one of them mad at you, you probably deserved it. Tyler especially has a fiery explosive temper, one that usually consists of pure rage. Whenever he gets angry, people tend to stay out of his way, for while he might not look it, the scrawny sixteen year old can pack quite a punch when pissed off, whether it’s with his fists or his words. Some people steer completely clear of the elder twin for this reason, but the majority of people know that it can take quite a lot to piss him off, and usually don’t give it a second thought.
History:
Tyler and Avery were born to a young, poor couple on the outskirts of District Five. Tyler was born fourteen minutes before Avery, a fact that he both takes pride in and simultaneously teases his younger brother about. The only children of their parents, the four Westbrooks are a close, tight-knit family drawn closer together by hardships. The combined paycheck of both their mother and father is enough for the family to barely scrape by, but the twins had less than ideal nutrition growing up.
Tyler's upbringing was mostly stable, with a neighbor watching over the boys as they grew up. By the age of ten, the two of them were trustworthy enough to look after themselves. By age thirteen they were trying to get their parents to let them join them in the factories, a concept that both adamantly refused. Even if they couldn’t get much, their mother said, the least you can do is get a decent education and have the chance to make something with your lives, a fact that both boys hold dear to as they continue their education.
By the time they were sixteen, both twins were relatively stable in their lives. Tyler had a fair share of friends, a couple of foes due to his temper, and many people who were simply indifferent. His home life is difficult but manageable, and he lives his life one day at a time, despite the ever present threat of the Hunger Games and their difficult lifestyle. After all, it’s him and Avery against the world. What could possibly go wrong?
