My Heart Is Yours [Yusei one-shot]

My eyes lock on the silver medal in my hand. It's been a couple weeks since the Olympics have ended, and I should be happy with the fact that I even got a medal in the decathlon. It's a hard event, and it takes a lot of time and effort, but I wanted the gold. I showed up every day. I competed with all I had every single day. I did my best, but in the end it wasn't good enough. I'm happy for the girl who won the gold though. She definitely gave me a run for my money. We were neck and neck for so long, and in the end she won. If I ever see her again, I'll congratulate her on her victory. I didn't originally have plans to compete in the Olympics. It was all a last minute thing. Just something to do to get away from district one for a bit. But my purpose became clear the moment I realized that Cirque had signed up for the decathlon too. I wanted her to get a medal. I wanted her to wear one around her neck. She deserves a gold for everything she's done, and I was going to give her mine. Hopefully she can live with a silver.

Returning to district one has been interesting. It's given me something to look forward to. Something to do. Something to carry with me for the rest of my life. It's an experience I'll never forget. District four is different from here. So much water. So much disgusting smelling sea water. I'll never forget it for as long as I live. A lot of the food they had was sea food, and I didn't want to touch it. But I ate it to keep my strength up. I needed to be strong to compete. Maybe not eating that thing called a crab really screwed me over. Maybe that's why I got the silver and not the gold. I should be happy that I even placed. I started off so well, and I just let my guard down in the end. I didn't do as well. I didn't focus like I should've. Something just went wrong. I went from having a tremendous lead to being in second. I was in first up until the last day. The girl who won just came out of nowhere, but I really I am happy for her.

I always said I'd do my best, and that's what I did, so I have no right to beat myself up over it. I wanted to make my family proud, and I hope that I did. I hope that they're looking down at me with smiles on their faces realizing how far I've came. I need them to be happy. I need them to be proud. I need it all right now. I miss them a lot, and I did this for them as well. But I mainly did it for Cirque. I like her, and I can't wait to hand her the silver medal. I'll apologize for not getting the gold. I'll tell her I tried. I'll tell her that I had fun. I'll tell her that it was an honor to compete beside her. I wish she would've done better.

I'm not sure what else I can do. I can't just take the gold from the girl who won although I'd love to meet her face to face in district one. At least district one got the gold, and not one of the other districts. That makes it a little bit better. But over all the Olympics was fun, and I hope I get the chance to do it again whenever they open again, if they do. It had a lot of interest, and I hope the Capitol brings them to us once more. I'm shooting for the gold. Not for me, but for Cirque. So she can wear it with pride. That's my ultimate goal.
