1. the Lavina Cheyne Devil's Food Cake

Our hopes are high for the third Cheyne to enter the Arena. After the bloody performance of Hettie in the 72nd Games, and Ronnie's skillful decisiveness winning him the wealth in a larger than usual bloodbath, we're thrilled to see what Lavina will bring to the table here, so to speak. This sinful chocolate cake, filled with ooey, gooey fudge, slathered with rich, buttery icing, and topped with swirls of raspberry jam to symbolize the blood of their victims, will make you feel as naughty as a Cheyne as you savor every last bite.

Go ahead, lick the plate - I won't judge.

3. the Tomato Ruze Tartlet

We're expecting to see a lot out of our District One female this year. The belladonna plant is beautiful and deadly, just like the tribute who takes its name. And you too can have a taste of that beauty - minus the poison - in these exquisitely crafted tomato tartlets. It's certainly a bold move for our chef here, to create a dessert out of something most people would consider a vegetable - a move fitting of the bold and decisive decisions we often see out of our tributes from One. The delicately flower-shaped crust filled with sweet tomato jam is perfectly complemented by a swirl of orange-blossom honey and glazed walnuts on top, bringing out the unique flavors of this versatile fruit.

5. the Petunia Angel Food Cake

I'll admit that this one made the chefs I interviewed a little sad. Just imagine, never being able to have cake, or cookies, or tarts, or any number of other delicious things! But one chef took it on as a personal challenge to test his culinary skills, and created this wonder - a cake worthy of the angel that is Petunia Hudson. Light, fluffy, and wholesome, this cake is like a delicate cloud that melts in the mouth, and with arrowroot flour instead of the traditional wheat, it's a dessert our angel won't have to feel glum about passing on. You hear that, Petunia - we'd love for you to have a taste of your namesake cake!

7. the Florence Spark Shortcake

Strawberries are my favorite fruit. In fact, experiencing the icy smoothness of Stella Summit Strawberry Sherbet all those years ago was what inspired me to pursue a career in food journalism, so I could share all these wonderful flavors with you, today. And as a strawberry connoisseur, I can say this Florence Spark Shortcake is an absolutely electrifying treat, with plump, ripe strawberries sitting atop layers of artisan whipped cream, gourmet strawberry puree, and fresh-baked shortcake. If we could capture childhood and summer in a bowl, this would be it - a delightful dessert as sweet as our little Florence Spark herself.
