Description of goods:

Antiques, mostly small, as well as constructed craftsmanship from the Bette Sublino, the Sublino family, and fellow artisans of the District One Row.

Examples: A variety of crystalline sculptures, old watches fixed to perfection, vintage jewelry pinned to mannequins and decorating the tables. A small set of cutting boards, framed painted portraits of Topaz Ross, Peridot Myler, Opal Shore, and Justice Fray. A hefty basket of carved miniature animals, from wolves to cows to pocket whales.

Description of booth:

Gold, bronze, with turquoise accents. The banner above the booth has been painstakingly painted, strokes fluid and strong. The construction is simple, minimal, but perfect. Light curtains have been draped along the corners, also used to block out the sun when the day becomes too hot. Aja has brewed gallons of tea, of which she passes sample cups out to passerbys.

Description of goods: A revolving and unpredictable inventory of mostly-secondhand goods: clothing and shoes, hand-painted dishes and sturdy cookware, household tools, small musical instruments, mirrors, decorative trinkets. At all times, there is a small basket of stones—some of them gems fit for jewelry, some plain grey rocks that look like they were picked up off the street seconds ago—on a table near the front. The vendors are as happy to take trades as to be paid.

Description of booth: The sign at the front is hand-made clearly hand-made, with a border of amateur but charming drawings—three or four bearing the telltale exaggerated proportions of a child's hand, the rest signed by employees and friends. The rotating nature of the goods laid waste to any organization nearly instantly; the clothes all make it onto racks, but everything else gets shelved wherever it happens to fit. Occasionally, with no apparent rhyme or reason, Aranica adds a stone from the basket to someone's bag before they leave.

Description of goods: High-quality honey in a dazzling variety—raw, creamed, spiced with cinnamon or peppers, mixed with nuts, separated by flower, with or without chunks of honeycomb. A scattering of beeswax candles and a smaller assortment of lip balm and lotions rest on the lowest shelf.

Description of booth: The front is draped in silver and purple and the display shelves are open, arranged so that at peak hours, light filters through each jar to show off the color of the honey. A row of samples, with tasting sticks and a small bucket in which to discard them after use, sit on the other end of the cashier's table. The woman running the booth has a warm smile and trades stories about home with everyone as they check out. There was a kid here early on, but now they're nowhere to be seen; if asked, Noemi laughs and says she told them to go have some fun because they were scowling hard enough to make the honey bitter.

Description of goods: Specialty pets: hognose snakes and fancy boas, young turtles clambering over one another for the best spot to sun, jewel-colored salamanders and frogs, a few fancy spiders, and tubs housing a variety of feeders. A catalogue on a wooden stand advertises more options—lizards in every size and color, turtles bred for particular shell patterns, more dangerous snakes—which interested parties could order.

Description of booth: This is a large booth. It has to be, as the enclosures are spacious and well-designed, with carefully selected environments and heating elements; it clearly cost a fortune to transport them here, and the contents cost a matching fortune. A scrawny kid at the back of the booth taps eir cane impatiently and scowls without subtlety at anyone who expresses disgust, but can be drawn out with earnest questions about the animals' care and any hint of affection toward the snakes.

Description of goods:

Selling jamón ibérico de bellota, a type of dry-cured ham from free-range, pure-bred black Iberian pigs that roam oak forests and only eat acorns. AKA: District 10 eat your heart out — this is the most delicious, fanciest ham in the world.

Several dozen whole legs of ham hang from the ceiling, each one aged for thirty-six months. Despite the almost surreal way each one is strung up from its hoof, there is obvious care in the way the brightly colored ropes have been knotted. One leg is set out on a slicing stand at the center of the counter where an elderly woman decked out in piles of giant necklaces, intensely colorful clothing, and oversized glasses cuts thin slices of ham on demand. Her smile is kind, but her hand never trembles when she picks up the knife.

To one side is a selection of goat cheese in various flavors — tantalizing to be sure, but some are perhaps... a little experimental. Up front in the presentation there is goat cheese swirled with boysenberry jam or caramel and almonds. There is potato gratin goat cheese, roast pheasant and thyme goat cheese, and even salted dark chocolate goat cheese. A little further to the back of the display a more adventurous customer might find pumpkin and asparagus goat cheese, shallots and strawberry, or vinegar and honey flavor combinations.

Description of booth:

The booth is decked out for the holidays, with hand strung garlands of dried oranges, cranberries, bay leaves, and cinnamon sticks. Small Ratmas trees are set out on the countertop and the surrounding ground, all decorated with ornaments of gold mercury glass and hand-painted bells, carefully crafted straw stars bound with red thread and cinnamon scented pine cones strung up on brass hooks. There are wreaths with giant red velvet bows and candles in brass lanterns. A suspicious amount of glitter claims nearby patches of snow and one of the women running the booth always seems to be humming some Ratmas carol or another, trying to convince her husband, mother-in-law, and daughters to sing along. Sometimes the sound of a clarinet or a ukulele accompanies the singing, played by twin girls conjoined at the hip, whose laughter echoes through the stalls almost as loudly as their bickering does.

Description of goods: Colorful knitwear. Ombre hats, their patterns of color shifts an intricate variation on several traditional District Eight motifs. Dainty scarves that cascade down the wearer's neck like the branches and leaves of twisting ivy. Animal mittens, flowery mittens, mittens with fractal cables twisting up and down the sides. Socks of all shades and stripes. Pirate hats.
