Being abandoned would make most kids furious, but I have the best Mom in the world - so to me, it's impossible to be angry about it.

Because if I wasn't left on her doorstep, whatever the reason, I wouldn't be here. Right? And how tragic would that be? I'm blessed to be with Mom and all of my siblings. We were all alone, until fate brought us together, and we're all richer for it. Perhaps I might wonder why and who and what, but I simply don't need to, because being with Mom and my brothers and sisters is all I'll ever need. I don't want to know where I came from. All that matters is where I am now. I'm Sadie, the last child left on Mom's doorstep, the youngest child at the Gingham Power Plant - and I'm perfectly content with that.

I've never been an angry kid. Doesn't suit me. I'm tall and curious and content, happy with hand-me-downs and a scrapbook family. Not like Bat, who's always been naughty, or Oz, who scares me sometimes. Mari, who could never be content and would never admit it. For all my siblings flaws I am their opposite, as if as a toddler I looked up at them and instead of subconsciously mimicking their actions, I repelled them.

They love me all the same. All quiet and calm, all simple and plain, not a shred of rebellion in my heart. 

I know I'm a little slow, a little too comfortable walking through life at my own pace, that I take a little too long to answer questions. But they love me, my family, and I love them, and it's all I need. Right?
