Murder with a Side of Fish Sticks (See plot space)

Dante sighed as Astrid picked up the phone. "Ummm, hi Astrid. How are you today?" Dante said feebly. He really hated this. He had no idea how Astrid would react to their failure, but he knew it wouldn't be good.

"Anyways, ummm, we, ummm, we...captured Chloe. But then she broke my ribs and we got away and she didn't die..." he said the last part very quickly, trying to make it sound like it wasn't his fault.

Dante gave his partner a nervous look. "Well, it's not over. We're going to get her eventually. I'll make sure she's dead before I call you again. Bye Astrid." the phone clicked off. He just wanted to get off that call as soon as possible.

"So, how are we going to-" he began to say. He saw something in the space between the seats. He reached down and pulled out a small black device. "A mic...." he muttered. He had thought he had fooled them by rerouting the tracker, but it didn't matter.

"They know where we are. They know where a major Untouchable base is. Because of me." he said. Never before had he done something like this. He just exposed his gang to the police.

Two days later...

Another day, another murder. A young man was found murdered, stabbed to death and dumped in the river. People were pointing fingers at a young wanderer that had been in the District for about a day or so. Jimmy agreed. Chloe didn't.
He was a kid. About 15 or 16. Besides, he seemed mentally stable, and didn't seem to have a previous relationship with the victim. It made no sense, but what evidence there was seemed to point to the young wanderer. He camped out near the river, and the body was found in the river. He was strong enough to carry her. And his knuckles were bruised. He maintained that he hadn't seen the girl before, he hadn't killed him, and he had gotten in a fight with a guy the day before, hence the bruises. Jimmy was skeptical, almost rudely so. But Chloe had no time for that.
She had to focus on the Day Lily Killing. She knew that it was now tied with the Untouchables, and the Astrid Hughes smuggling cases. Hughes was currently taking care of her unstable father for her younger brother, who had been chosen for the Games, and currently dwelt in District Five. There was no evidence linking her to the murder, but Chloe knew from the past that the Untouchables had business relations with Astrid's smuggling avenue.
Her eyesight was still giving her problems, and Bishop had banished her to deskwork until she was back to 20/20. So she sat, reviewing the many murder cases tied to Astrid and the Untouchables in long binges fueled by Coke Zero and Sour Cream and Onion pringles.
Ah... Police work.

Edward Von Hohenheim sat behind a table in the Interrigation Room, locking glares with a very stubborn detective that was about his age.
"Look, I told you my story. Now, can I leave?"

Edward twitched, got up, and slammed Jimmy into the wall, holding him up by his collar. The policewoman in there was, unfortunately, a rookie, and merely stood by, shocked.
"Call me small to my face again, pretty boy," he snarled. "I don't take to it kindly."
"Sir?" The rookie said, grabbing him by the wrist that was holding Jimmy a foot of the ground. "Would you please put the detective down?"
"He called me a pipsqueak grain-of-rice ant who couldn't be seen without a microscope!!" He yelled.
"He didn't say any of that!" The rookie yelled back, stunned. "Just put him down and sit." Edward shook his head.
"No."
The rookie sighed. "Fine. Then please state your name for the detective."
Edward smirked. "Bob the Murderer Guy." He said. The rookie took a chance and smacked him upside the head smartly. Ed glared.
"That's police abuse."
"I'm sure you can deal with it. State your name seriously." Edward rolled his eyes and sighed.
"Edward Van Hoenheim."

Ed squeaked, and the policewoman looked at Jimmy in shock.
"Okay, what was that about?!" She snapped, helping Edward to the chair. The young man pointed, teary-eyed, at Jimmy.
"He's insane!!" He looked and saw a red-headed woman pass the door. "Woman! Good woman!" She looked into the room and walked in, eye-brow raised.
"Yes?"
"I would appreciate it if you would question me." He said. She blinked, looked at Jimmy, then turned to Ed.
"I'm sorry, this is Detective Kudo's case, not mine."
"Please!" He said, grabbing her sleeve. "You have no idea how much pain I'm in right now. Unless you've give birth!" Her eyebrows shot up. Then she stepped back and leaned against the wall.
"I'll be watching, Jimmy," she said slowly, narrowing her eyes. "And believe me, I'll want a full explaination about this later."
"Please state your name." The rookie said again.
"Edward Van Hohenheim." Ed repeated through clenched teeth.

"Inside the Martel Bar and Grill. I was eating a meal, and noticed this guy man-handling a lady. I went over and told him to stop. He was obviously drunk, and took a swing at me. It was self-defense; anyone that was there can vouch for that." He was recovered, and raised his eyebrow. "Anything else?"

Ed sat there in shock.
"What?" He asked numbly. "Tell me you're joking." Chloe looked at him questioningly. "I was just kicked in a place that should never be kicked. I was dragged here like a criminal," he clenched his fist. "And I get asked one question?!" He shook his head. "Let's see. I'm near the river that the body was found in. Might it be the least bit possible that I saw something?!"
The rookie giggled, and Chloe bit her lip.
