"Camp Career?" I said quietly to myself, reading the small neat sign. This was so ridiculus I felt like turning around and leaving, but I suppose if it helped me to win the games, it couldn't be so bad. I flounced up to the instructor, my long mahogany hair cascading down my back, several of the males in the camp slowed their jogs or stopped completley when I passed them, but I just ignored them, I gave the instructor my name and began to jog with the rest of the group after a few moments, the other careers seemed to jolt out of a trance and run to catch up with me and the other girls. A younger girl, or at least I think she was younger, with dark red hair, was running oddly, as if she was trying to hide her face. I knew that feeling. I sighed and slowed my jog to match her pace and stuck out a dainty hand.
"Sterling," I'm not even sure if she tried to shake back, I just sort of grabbed her hand and shook it, but it's not the easiest thing to shake hands when you are jogging and trying to look beautiful for all the people staring at you okay?
(ooc: sorry if she seems really concieted, she kind of is....lol anyways)

"Uh, I-I'm Lawm," she answers, her breath short, "I haven't seen you around here before."
I laugh and throw my hair back over my shoulder, the light shining off it dully.
"I don't really come here much, but I only have two more chances to get into the games and I figured I could use any sort of help." I pause my running to adjust my shirt, pulling the light green fabric up slightly so it accentuates the cut of the shorts and my curves. I then burst into a run and catch up with Lawm.
"Lawm. That's a pretty name," I say smiling winningly. I wonder vaguely how she got it, but I instead ask the important question.
"So why are you at this camp and how many reapings have you been in?"

I laugh girlishly, but let an edge creep into my voice, the loud sound turns a few heads, but I ignore them.
"Well I am also excellent in hand to hand combat and spear/knife throwing and am a decent swordsman." Lawm is younger than she looks and I consider this for a second, thinking that it would be a disadvantage to her in the games.
"Do you have any handy or murderous talents," I little straight-forward but hey, why not be honest?

I nodded, running was useful. If your oponent couldn't catch you, he couldn't kill you. Throwing stars was interesting and unique, which could give her an edge.
"I wouldn't rule you out then," I said, smiling. Just then the instructor called for a drink break and I slowed my pace to a brisk walk, looping around the track to reach my water bottle. I drank half of it in one sip and agian felt eyes on my skin, as if they were trying to peer through me. I liked Lawm for this reason, she didn't stare at me the second I entered the camp.

Lawm checked her watch, and I guessed by the sun and her face it was about ten, ten-thirty.
"So, what do your parents do?" she asked. I laughed slightly.
"Well, I'm not really sure. They do odd jobs around the district, when I see them for my monthly visiting session I'll ask." I tell Lawm, a slight edge of anger and bitterness creeping into my voice. I feel bad for my tone because it's not directed at Lawm, but it makes me appear more interesting so I flip my hair over my shoulder and look away.

As the instructor anounced sword practice, I straightened, and brushed any dust or grime off my tight black pants. I love these pants, with the white stripes down the side and the way it gets tighter after the knee. I am thinking about my pants, and trying desperatley not to think about Liev or my parents when Lawm interupts my train of thought.
"Coming?" She asks, and then bites her lip, as though she is holding back a comment. I smile and nod, immediatley regaining my sunny but fierce attitude. The instructor asks us to pair up and about fifteen guys and girls grab my arms. I shake them off and raise an eyebrow gracefully at Lawm.
"Parteners?" I say, extending one hand.

I assume Lawm took a smaller sword because it was lighter, but I picked a long, but thin bladed sword because they are quicker, easier to weild and did just as much damage. Everyone quickly put on vests that protected our vital organs from the swords but left the rest of our body open to motivate us. I twirled my sword around for a few moments, getting a feel for it, and then took a low, defensive stance about six feet back from Lawm, my blade extended fully towards her neck. I smiled devlishly at her.
"Get ready Lawm, I don't 'go easy' on people," I say.
