Opening Ceremonies (District 10 post)

Peter picked up one of the little sheep with a sigh. He shouldn't be here. He should be taking care of Walter and Hannah. And Gene, and the Chick, who was bound to be going through some changes, due to puberty. He sighed. This royally sucked.

He waved a bit half-heartedly at the crowds, not really caring enough. He knew he should, but he most definately didn't. His primary thought was Let's just this overwith.

He glanced at Sony and grinned encouragingly. No need to be mean, or ignore her.

I want to go home, he thought glumly. I should be watching the unlucky guy, I shouldn't BE the unlucky guy.

Well, that's too damn bad! He snarled at himself in his head. You're just going to have to deal, because feeling sorry for yourself isn't going to get you anywhere. And he was right, as he often was. He just had to get through this, think scientifically, think clearly, try not to make big mistakes, or mistakes in general. Not that he wasn't strong (with the right twists to his advantage, he could take most men down), but he preferred brains over brawn. He glanced over at Dante, the District One kid, who most definately preferred brawns over brains. Pity.

Under some circumstances, they would probably have been friends. But, once they were shoved into that arena, they would be enemies, just like it would be with Dinah and Sony and everyone else.

I hate this...
