Jack Lexington, District 10

During the last year Jack has shot up to an impressive 6'1" however his muscles couldn't keep up with the growth spurt leaving him lanky and skinny. He's not much of a weight lifter but he can run really fast and for a long time, has great body controll, which makes him a good rider of any sort of horse.
His dirty blonde hair is hard to tame and he usually doesn't bother to comb it anyway. What usually wins girls over are his green eyes and broad smile.
During the summer a few freckles show up on his nose, which he hates because they make him look less like a man. Over the years Jack has collected a considerable amount of smaller scars and lost one toe because of a stubborn horse.
Jack hates wearing shoes but will put some leather boots on during the winter. He's usually seen in old brown shorts and an old button up shirt with stand-up collar that once used to be black and has faded to grey.
To shield his skin from the summer sun he wears a beat-up Fedora when he's in the field.

For a long time Jack's parents have tried to make sure that he would grow up to be a decent person. His father was a great horseman before his bones became too old and taught his boys well. Nevertheless sometimes there was not enough work and they had to discover other ways to make a living, that weren't always by the book. Being the youngest one of three brothers ususally safed him from fighting and all the dirty work to make sure the family had enough food because his brothers would take care of it. A lot changed when his older brother had been killed for stealing food. Not only did the loss of his sibling leave Jack angry about this injustice but also did a lot of people generally refer to them as thiefs. After the incident he had trouble finding work until one breeder took a liking to him and made him his main horseman.
Jack usually tries to stick to the laws and keep himself and his family safe but when times get tough he tends to simply 'take' what the family needs. In his book their debt has been paid for over and over.
He's sneaky and sometimes mingles with the lowlifes to sell whatever he takes.
Although Jack has only had a girlfriend once he notices the looks that some girls give him and likes it. Especially redheads or strawberry blondes get his late teenager hormones going. For days he would follow certain girls around school and only end up teasing them.
On one hand he's a bit of a dreamer and hasn't given up hope of a better life-maybe beyond the fence and maybe with a nice girl, on the other hand acting before thinking will most likely get him killed before anything else.
His strenghts include tying knots, using whips and some sneaky moves when he manages to get himself into a fight because he couldn't hold his tounge.

Jack Lexington comes from a long line of horse breeders. Unfortunately most of his grandfathers horses died during a great flood and he had to sell the rest of them piece by piece to make a living. In the end he was left with nothing but his experience which he passed on to his sons and grandsons like Jack.
The boy put a good horse sense and great riding abilities on display from an early age on.
Another thing he showed early on was a quick tongue which earned him more than one spanking. Over the years he learned to hold it and obey his father.
Living in district 10 wasn't too bad as a horseman since a lot of the farmers could breed horses but not break them in or make them usuable fast.
During most years the family did all right until Jacks oldest brother, their most crafty horseman, was sent into the arena and never returned.
The family never got over the loss and resented the government for taking their son but would never openly speak about it. Instead of being afraid of the same fate Jack and Mason, the two brothers, who were left, decided that if the government wouldn't feed them in return for his brothers death they would take whatever they needed..and only that. One desperate morning, when they hadn't had a job in weeks and their belly's were growling, the boys set out to steal food. Only one of them was caught and had to pay with his life: Mason.
Jack now harbours a deep grudge against the capitol.
Other than that he obeys the laws, honours his parents, tries to keep his job as horseman while attending school in the mornings.
If you ask him what the best thing is that ever happened to him he'll smile at you and reply. 'Panem'.


Update of what happened to him during threads:

He's been straying off to d7 in search for medicine, that the poor family could afford, for his seriously sick father and got wounded trying to help a girl. This young lady was mucking around in the forest when a few careers attacked her. Both, her and Jack, were severly wounded but managed to escape. The journey through the forest became a true struggle for their lifes with half severed limbs and infections.
In Nee's home district Jack was just barely alive but when a doctor advised him to amputate his injured leg he refused and after a long struggle pulled through. Not without the help of a group of intellectuals, who showed an interest in his knowledge of district 10. These people were trying to educate the districts from within about what the capitol is really doing (domination/suppression...)
Also they were gathering information about institutions and government structures to maybe start an uprising.
With their help (and a message) Jack made it back to his home on the peace keeper train, where he experienced the special treatment of Capitolites because he and his companion were posing as peace keepers. A doctor on board 'glue' his broken leg back together and enabled him to walk on the other wounded leg again. What he didn't know was that she also put a tracker under his skin.
Now he owed the scientist for sending him back home with a flask of medicine for his dad. He delivered a letter to their friends in district 10, just before he was detained for trespassing into the woods.

The time in the detention center was cruel even though he never got tortured.
Finally out and home Jack had a hard time opening up to his family and friends again about what had happened. On top of that he was extremely unhappy that his purpose in life, the only thing he had always loved and was good at- working and breaking horses- was no longer an option because of his crippled leg.
Being back again was much harder than he expected.
What will the wrangler do now?

At the ranch he met a girl who got hired as a temp and after a lot of teasing and making fun they actually started appreciateing each other and fell in love. Months later Noreen found out she was pregnant and after their first shock Jack embraced the outlook of becoming a father whereas Noreen had her reservations and worries. Yet they stuck together and found out she was expecting twins.

Things went down fast when the woman of his dreams got reaped and pulled from his arms before she could give birth.
In a desperate attempt to stay with her Jack got shot at the city hall after saying goodbye and Noreen got shipped of to the capitol where she would soon get prepared for the games.
While Jack's life crumbled because he lost not only his wife but also his future and children Noreen got killed in the arena.
Wounded both physically and emotionally he hit an all time low and drowned his sorrows in more alcohol than he could handle until he avox friend Devroux finally kicked him in the ass to pick himself back up. Only the prospect of the babies possibly being delivered before the games and brought home to him gave him new hope.
They did and now Jack is trying his best to survive and become a good father.
Unfortunately a peace keeper discovered that he was harboring an avox and wasn't too pleased.
