In the Life of a Lumberjack [OPEN]

There's groups A and B. I'm group C. The only one in group C. My job is to sneak away from work area and check on my animals for a few minutes. Sometimes I see Luna or Asia, and sometimes I even get Scion to come, but I'd never let Static here. If the peacekeepers saw him, he'd be shot for meat. I've got so many animals, it's impossible to check on all of them just at night after work and school. I have to do this and risk scars on my back, otherwise my animals might starve, or miss me, or get injured without me knowing.

Each of them know a certain whistle. Eventually I know I'll run out of whistles, but so far I'm okay. When I whistle low key, Static will come running, but if I whistle high key Asia will bound in. If I whistle precisely in the middle, Luna will come. If I whistle inwardly, Scion will come. If I whistle twice in a row Clarissa will come. Today I whistle twice for Clarissa. As I wait for her familiar foot pattern I glance back nervously every few seconds to make sure nobody sees me.

Clarissa, predictably, dashes away, and I more than anything wish I could follow, but there's nowhere to go. All at the same time I feel like laughing at this person's klutziness, but as it's me who's in trouble I probably shouldn't. My mind races quickly thinking of what to do. Act stupid and be kind to the boy who was spying on me. Maybe he'll think he's crazy.

I go up nearer to him and offer a hand. "Need some help?" I ask sympathetically. I feel another upsurge of anger. He's just interrupted my time with my animals. I'll have to tend to Clarissa later, which will me that my time with Scion will be cut short. Stupid, stupid boy.

"I don't know what you're talking about," I say in cold confusion. Yeah, like I'm ever allowing anyone to know I'm nursing a tiger and domesticating it so that it can go hunt for me. I think I'd rather have someone question their sanity instead of risk my animals life. I know I have my priorities messed up, animals over humans, but I don't have anyone I really care for on Earth except maybe my mom. Other than that, I think my animals rank above everyone else. I know it's wrong but somehow when I think about it, it doesn't feel wrong. I mean, there's no one special enough in my life. Everyone seems to blur together until they're all just one person who I know only vaguely. My animals are like real friends.

There's no need to make him think he's crazy. He seems as if he already is. And now all I wish to do is get away from these two time wasters. My next words I direct at the boy in a shout completely ignoring the girl.

"Why would I tell you what that was? I'm not an idiot!" Yeah, cause I'll tell a complete stranger what I'm doing every minute of the day. Right...
