~Hunter Gem~

I sit around in my oldish, crumbled home and wait for the guests to arrive. I had only met them days before, but I thought it would be fun to have a bit of a party for us all to get to know each other. I place a couple sandwiches and apples at each spot at the table and light a candle. I just sit down in a chair and wait. seconds pass, and then, minutes. Minutes turn into what seems like hours. But they were all only 10 minutes late. Where they coming? Hopefully they were, I mean who wouldn't? Its a party! Kind of. I finally hear footsteps outside, who could it be? The footsteps approach to the door and a knock comes along with it. I hurry to the door and pull it wide open. The first party guest is..

I only just met this guy a few days ago, and I'm going to his party. Well that's a new low even for me. I still haven't even warmed up enough to talk to this guy. I sigh and put on a green dress. I sometimes where this when I go into the woods. Something I haven't done in a long time. I walk down the stairs of my house and sneak out the back door. I can't go through the front door my moms room in over there.

I get to the guys house and he opens the door wide open. He was quick to do that. I wave and wait for him to invite me inside. I open my mouth to say something but nothing comes out. Curse me and my not talking.

It's a Saturday. Finally the weekend and I don't have to work. I met this guy in the fields and he invited me to a party so I figured why not? I mean yeah I met him yesterday but I'm generally shy so a party should be good for me. I put on my better jacket. Not the one I wear in the fields. I'm wearing some jeans I normally wear around the district and a plain blue shirt. Not to fancy. Rather casual. I head down to Hunter's house. Hunter is his name, right? I wasn't really sure how many people he invited and hoped that he invited someone else that I knew. Maybe Alexy? Or Trista? I don't know. Even if it's Laura. I mean we barely hang out any more but what the heck. Why not. When I arrive at the house I see a girl is already there in a green dress. I smile. I can't recognize who it is but I'm okay with that. I walk up to the door after it has already closed, and knock. Being shy I really begin to hope I know some people here. I can feel my forehead getting hot and I'm almost positive it's sweating.

The first guest walks in and it turns out to be Nightshade. I had only met this girl the other day, she doesn't talk much though, but shes still a good friend. "Good evening Nightshade!" I say as she walks into the house. "Now I know it isn't much of a house but hey, its still a house" I say to her as she looks around. The door closes and another knock arrives at the door as soon as it closes. I run to the door and open it up, its Matthew one of my other good friends. We had only met yesterday but he turned out to be a really awesome dude. "Feel free to look around the house and chat amongst yourselves as we wait for everyone else." I say to them both. I have a great feeling that this will be such a fun party. At least it will take my mind off of Taylor, Taylor. I can't believe she died, she tried to fight which I knew she would. But I wish she had lived a little longer, and could have came home to me, and the district. But they ganged up on her and murdered her.. But now isn't the time to feel sorrow. Its time to have fun!

I see Matthew. I have see him around, I just don't know where. I only know his name because I heard somebody yell at him. He is also in my class. I have only talked to him once. I try to say something but I can't because I have only ever talked to him once. that was when he asked me what my name was. So I just sigh at myself

Yesterday. Just yesterday I met Hunter as I was gathering some fruits and berries to keep to myself, now I was invited to a party? It must be my lucky day. I haven't been to a party in ages and could not wait! I threw on my best dress other than my reaping one. A strapless black dress with gold decal around the bust, and frilled out at the ends and ended just below my knees. I combed my hair and let it gather at my shoulders neatly and I was on my way. I picked up an orange on my way there for a present of sorts for Hunter to thank him for inviting me.

I approached the house and walked up to the steps, I could hear people inside, so I didn't even bother knocking and strut in confidently. I saw about three people, Hunter, a girl in a green dress, and another boy.

"Hey guys!"

I said a bit loud. I looked at Hunter and tossed him the fruit, nodding a thank you. I didn't really know any of the other people, but I guess it was just a chance to make new friends!

I watch my sisters from the scratchy chair my dad put my on, and wait for them to finish whispering in the corner. They were talking about going to that guy's party or not. I don't remember his name, but they do, because I heard them mention him a few times to dad. He was stone still though. He wouldn't move, not a single muscle. I feel closer to him now that mom's dead, since both of us are different. He still carries me when he can, but most of the time I have to limp around. Finally, Meredith comes over and asks me if I'm ready to go. We have nothing to change into, so all we have to do is start walking. I nod my head, and she sighs. "I wish you'd talk," She says, before helping me to my feet. In reply, I shake my head.

Fonax opens the door, and Meredith and I walk awkwardly out, her trying to support half my weight so I don't hurt myself. Fornax shuts the door behind us. It's quiet right now, and the sun is setting low. I'm probably slowing us down more than need be, but I can't help it. It's the stupid peacekeeper's fault.

We reach the supposed house we're supposed to go to for this 'party' and Fornax quietly tells me. I nod my head. I want to yell at her I can hear, but I just don't feel like it. I'm tired, I'm hungry, I'm in pain, and I'm mourning the death of my mother. Fornax and Meredih are only one of those, considering they sleep like rocks. Fornax reaches forward and knocks on the door.

Nightshade and Matthew seemed to have started a conversation so at least they had something to do. Suddenly there is a knock on the door, I casually walk over to it and pull the handle "Hello everyone!" Says the nice girl I met the other day named Melanie. "Oh come in come in!" i say to her as she stands in the doorway. She tosses an apple to me and I smile. "Thanks"

Everyone sits down and who knows who else is coming. Two knocks on the door. I wonder who that could be. I run to the door and open it up, its the Strekker triplets. "Come in you guys!" The triplets walk in and i remember when i met them in the marketplace. They might have been the last guests to the party but now the fun begins. "Now everyone! Take your seats, I have set a small meal for you all. Eat up and feel free to chat!"

Gladly, I sit down at the wooden table, a little rough around the edges, but it still looked nice. I felt a little awkward not knowing anybody so i took a small sandwich a and nibbled on it as I watched people talk around me. Soon, three more people came in. I recognized them, the Strekker triplets. I didn't know them well, but I definitely knew who they were. I introduced myself to a few people and just started to listen in on conversations, not bothering to make of one myself.

Drayden Laborn

So I have been invited to a party? Sounds fun. Drayden Laborn smoothes his shirt before scribbling the last words on the piece of paper directed to his mom, telling him he was going to be gone for the night. The sun had started to set and only then had Drayden decided to go to the party. He was wanting to be relaxing but he had never been to a party, It must be fun right?

He had met Hunter once he had walked into his mom’s and his food shop a while ago. After a little bit talking they became friends and soon he had been invited to a party. Just to be nice, in his hands he carried a plate of food made by himself. The apples there we cut up perfectly, placed in a circle with juice from a single orange cooked in with it. The apples were delicious, and he hoped everyone liked them.

This must be it, he stood at the door of the house he was told to be at. Gulping once he put his hand up and knocked on the door, it swings open at my touch and he casually walk in. Placing the food on the table and examining the area around me. Wow, many people are already here. Are those triplets? His mind wandered as he plunked down on a chair, glancing over at the girl next to him.

“Hey, I’m Drayden.”

"Hey, I'm Drayden" says a low voice next to me. it made me jump a little, but I stayed polite. I turned and smiled, the boy next to me was nicely dressed like me and I held out my hand politely. "Hi! I'm Melanie! It's nice meeting you, especially since I don't know anyone else." I said laughing a bit. i took another bite of my sandwich and smiled. I hadn't really talked to anyone, so maybe I could finally have a conversation with someone.

I scramble around checking on all of the party guests who are having such a great time. Wow, it has been such a success! I quickly say hi to everyone and warmly greet Drayden. He was a good friend of mine. All of a sudden in all of the commotion, I trip over something and bang my head on the table. "Damnit" I mutter, everyone looks at me in shock " What, whats going on?" The room goes silent and someone points to my head. "What?" I rub my head and pull my hand back, its covered in crimson red liquid. Did I really hit my head that hard? "Excuse me for a moment everyone." I quickly say and run out the door. I sit outside in the yard and try to get the blood off of my hands and face. It doesn't seem to stop. "Gah!" I pick up a rock and chuck it at the fence. The voice of sound of the cannon, identifying Taylor's death rings in my ears. Then the second one for Fallstreak. I bury my head in my lap and just sit there. Hopefully no one is to troubled or stops themselves to come out. I hope not, Hopefully they just keep talkin and ignore what had happened to me.

People are coming in one by one. I don't recognize the girl that comes in after me. Well I mean I don't know her but I've seen her around school. I think her name's Melanie... Melanie... Something. I don't remember her last name. Next some people that I actually know come in. Well, kind of know. The Strekker Triplets. Probably some of my favorite people in the District. They're so nice to people, even when people aren't very nice to them. They had their bread stolen by some idiot in the District. I saw them crying and gave them my extra berries. I wave to the triplets. I realize the only person I have legitimently spoken to is Hunter. It doesn't surprise me since I'm not very good around girls. Another person walks in. I don't know him but I welcome him anyways. "Hey, I'm Matthew." I say to him, but then I realize he's already in a conversation and go back to thinking to my self.

Notes: I know, short post. My D9 is on my mind at the moment. Also, I originally had like 300 words but my computer got out of it and I lost what I had written. This was my 3rd try and it finally worked.

I see the host walk outside just after he hit his head. I fallow him because I have nothing else to do. I don't even know anybody out there. I see him with his head in his lap. I walk over to him and put my hand on his shoulder. I try to talk"may.......I.......sit......with......you?" Wow I sure said that all shaky. Well its not my fault I have selective mustism.

Everyyone is talking, and I smile at.. Hunter when we walk inside. I help Amity prop herself against the wall, and leave Fornax to talk - or just stare at - her. Both of them were truly good, they just didn't have a good way of communicating to people. That was my job. A few people look over at me and my sisters, and every time I smile slightly. Someone waves, and I wave back, although Amity and Fornax don't notice. Amity is busy moving herself downwards to a sitting position, and Fornax is staring into space. My sisters are weirdos, without a doubt. I love them though they've been having a hard time passed. A little flicker of that morning last week flashes through my eyes, and I feel like chasing Fornax, like I should have before.

The host, Hunter, hurts himself and runs outside. Immediately I feel compelled to run and see if he was okay, but another girl goes after him. He wouldn't want to be crowded, would he? I take a glance at Amity before I start walking outside. She look a bit pale, but she always looked that way since last month. I needn't worry.

Reaching Hunter, I get on my knees beside him and ask, "Are you alright?"
