What was once a barren wasteland of worthless knowledge and teenage heartbreak was now a nightmarish labyrinth of fire. That’s right, school was living hell for Jamarion Goravich, especially now that his younger brother - sweet, innocent little Klaus who could never hurt a fly - was on television for the entire world to judge. Ever since that dreadful day when the peacekeepers dragged his family members away and his siblings crumpled to the floor in sobbing heaps, more pitiful attention has been tossed his way. Now, it was to the point of frustration. Jamarion didn’t like so much attention, especially when it was pity. Yes, his brother had been reaped, and yes, his brother would probably die within the first day, but did he really want this shit being regurgitated into his face every five minutes? Ask him and he just might sock you in the jaw. He was in no mood to be trifled with, and he was in no state to come to terms with whatever opinions and emotions he held for his brother, who he wished he could trust with his faith. In all honesty, though - this was Klaus Goravich he was thinking of. What chance could he possibly have?

Only a shred of hope had appeared since the end of the Reaping. Jamarion and Hopper had been resting in front of the television screen when the announcement had been broadcasted to every family in Panem; training scores. With a sigh, he had leaned backwards into the beaten down sofa ignoring the gentle sniffles escaping from his sisters, and anticipated the worst. He had faintly wondered if it was humanely possible for a tribute to earn a score of one, and figured that if anything was possible, Klaus would accomplish just that and humiliate him despite them being miles apart. So, when Klaus’ name and glimmering face appeared onscreen, Jamarion forced himself to look away and demanded that Hopper tell him the score rather than witnessing the embarrassment himself. He expected the distorted, melancholy expression of Hooper to fade into a mask more grim than usual, but to his surprise, his eyes had widened and his lower jaw had gently dropped a little bit as if he were in disbelief. This tempted Jamarion to glance at the screen, and indeed the sight baffled him as well - Klaus Goravich had received a training score of nine.

The event had shocked the entire family, but it had also poisoned them with false hope. As Jamarion barreled through the bustling hallways of school on a scorching, summer afternoon, he couldn’t help but think of how hopeless the situation was despite everything. The thought had haunted him during every class - not that he paid much attention in them to begin with - and dominated his mind until he had been squirming in his chair. The Hunger Games would arrive soon.

Day one, bloodbath. That was the day half of the tributes were wiped out. Klaus could easily be one of them. He hated the fact that the very thought of these Games was consuming him. The Hunger Games had never been an emotion-inducer to him. And now, it refused to let him sleep at night. He was going to end up as weak and pathetic as his siblings, No, never.

Jamarion was a tower in comparison to his classmates. He stormed through the schoolyard with a useless textbook clutched against his hip, plowing through whoever stood in his way. Fortunately, his peers were alert and experienced enough to spot him from afar and dart out of his way before their stupidity caused a violent confrontation. Jamarion could not say this about everybody, however, because the second he whirled past one of the corners his body smacked into something, though he could easily determine upon contact that the object was not solid enough to be a wall or anything other than one of his classmates. With a frustrated growl, Jamarion shot the stranger - a blonde, frail thing - with a seething hot glare. ”Get out of my way!” He shouted at her in a snarl, and thrust his arm forward to shove her out of the way so he could go on his merry way and return home to his miserable family.[/blockquote][/justify]

People said words were meaningless. Nothing but worthless. ~~Like her.~~Sticks and stones may break my bones... It was all a lie. Every last bit of it was, because with every word that was stabbed into Sephera's gut there was the feeling of dying a little. As if she were and inch closer to death than she already was. She would've been the last person to admit that it affected her in the slightest was herself. She needed nobody, nothing. All she depended on was herself because she hated the idea of owing somebody. Of owing them anything at all. She couldn't go on with herself knowing that somebody had helped her in a way, and not knowing how to repay them. If she kept away from everybody, she had no reason to owe them, no reason to pay them back. So that was what she did. She ran any living sole who tried to care away. She couldn't owe them like she owed her mother. She couldn't, simple as that.

Her eyes darted around nervously as she walked to the courtyard from th cafeteria. Yet another day with her sitting all alone in the corner of the room, eating her food in a hurry to get out. Being lonely was one of the more obvious things one had to deal with if they were trying to spend their life alone. Still, she hated the hard glances she got, the snide comments, and the pitiful laughs as much as the next person. Her fists were clenched at her side, waiting for one more person to so much as look at her funny when something nearly plowed her to the ground. "Get out of my way!" a voice called, and before she could even reply with a smart ass comment, she was sent sailing back again, and this time it was on purpose. She swung her hand across his face before she even told herself to. Reflex. She pulled herself up on the tip of her toes so that she was in his face. "There are these things called manners, ass hole." She grunted in a whisper. "Perhaps you should learn a few."

She took the time that he was taking to realize he'd just been slapped across the face to examine it. Medium colored hair, eyes that, although glaring with hatred, were quite beautiful, and a very strong jawline. He was handsome. Extremely so, but so far he was a complete jerk, a bully in all senses of the word, and Sephera wasn't going to cave in just because he had beautiful eyes, or broad shoulders...or perfect lips. No. She wasn't doing this. She was going to stand up to him, because somebody needed to. He was no better than the rest of them, and he needed to know it. She glared back into his eyes as they singed at her like fire. She wasn't scared of him. She wasn't scared of him, she told herelf, and she wasn't.

Intimidated, perhaps, but not afraid. Why was it that all boys were the same? They tried to through their huge egos around-typically, to make up for things that weren't huge- and expected everybody else to be okay with it. It was pathetic! She clenched her jaw at the massive boy before her. She wasn't sorry for hitting him in the least. It actually felt pretty good to finally hurt somebody. Keeping her emotions bottled up was something that was doomed from the start, because eventually, the bowl would tip, and everything would come flooding out at once. People said Sephera Greene could sink no lower, but the girl had long since drowned. She was no longer herself, she was a hollow, angry shell, and it was high time she stood up for herself.

Jamarion had a solid reputation; biggest and meanest bully in school. Students avoided him for a reason, and by now he had beaten up at least half of the student population. So, when he shoved the feather-light girl out of his way he expected the minor setback to end then and there. However, to his astonishment, he felt he shock of a sting upon his cheek and detected the sound of harsh skin-on-skin contact. Before he could muster a second thought his head was cocked to the side and his pink-tinted cheek was throbbing gently from the impact of the girl’s hand. Eyebrows arched in surprise, he turned his head back toward the bold little girl, and stared at her with an expression distorted by a mixture of shock and irritation. ”There are these things called manners, asshole.” Her whisper was harsh, though it was hardly worthy of piercing his black heart. ”Perhaps you should learn a few.”

It began as a small flicker - a faint candle’s flame in the middle of the dark forest. His jaw tightened, his eyebrows furrowed, the skin on his forehead became scrunched and wrinkled. Then, the flame brushed against the nearest twig, slowly creeping along its body until it was engulfed in orange and red. That twig was leaned against another twig, and that twig was sprawled within a small pile of leaves. When the pile of leaves became a torch, the brush carried it to the trees. Soon, the entire forest was glowing in vibrant lights, and smoke smothered every living thing within its perimeter. This forest fire - the fire boiling within Jamarion’s stomach - surged through his veins, his blood, his limbs, everything, until his twitching hands could no longer resist the temptation to wring the girl’s neck.

Who does she think she is? Nobody slapped Jamarion. Nobody.

White teeth gritted and jaw clenched firmly, Jamarion brought his right hand back and swung it with the enhanced strength the heat granted him, and he backhanded the strange ~~and stupid~~ girl across her delicate, little face. Strike me, I strike you harder. Then, still unsatisfied by his counter-attack, he gripped her by the collar of her shirt and yanked her forward. Face only inches from her, he burned her eyes with a glare like searing hot daggers, and spit into her face as soon as his lips were parted and words were spilling from his system. Don’t you ever touch me like that again.” His growl was low, as if belonging to a predator of the night sinking low into the bushes, and his tone was drowning in nothing but hatred and viper’s venom. He wanted to teach her a lesson about trifling with the wrong man.

Jamarion released her, and simultaneously shoved her away from him once again. He continued to glower at her, obviously still peeved by her pathetic attempt at revenge, and balled his large hands into fists. ”Do you even know who you’re dealing with?” [/blockquote][/justify]

The sound of flesh against flesh shocked Sephera, once she realized that it was his hand across her face. Tears filled her eyes involuntarily as she was shoved back once again, this time causing her to fall on her back. She thought about just laying there, never getting up. She wiped away another set of tears that didn't seem to realize that she was supposed to be made of steel. She wasn't supposed to care about anything, or feel pain. Sure, the slap hurt her, and when he knocked her down, she hit her elbow on the ground pretty hard, but it was nothing compared to what was going on internally. Not even close.. She mattered to nobody, and she knew it, but wasn't that what she wanted? To be invisible? To go through life without caring? No. She didn't want to lose anybody else. She'd lost her mother, and she thought about it every day. She replayed it over and over again, thinking of ways she could have kept the man from stabbing her mother. If only she wouldn't have been a coward, thought to give her mother the purse before it was too late. She wouldn't be like she was. She'd be happy, friendly.

With an involuntary groan, she came to her feet. "Do you even know who you’re dealing with?" His voice accused. She didn't. She had never laid eyes on the boy before today, before ten seconds ago, and look at them. Look at what they were doing. The stinging, tingling sensation in her arm was almost unbearable as it was, but when she swung at him again, it got worse. It was like a blade was being stabbed into her arm after it came into hard contact with the boy's strong jaw. "I don't know, and I don't care!" She yelled. She'd meant for it to sound like the truth, not like she was feeling. Not in a whimpering, pathetic plea. "So, why don't you tell me?" She was beginning to think she was fighting a losing battle, but she still brought her knee up, and aimed for the one thing she knew would by her enough time to run. A strained gasp left her lips as it inched closer and closer to it's mark. Wasn't that supposed to hurt them? Being kicked in the groin? Yes, she knew it without a doubt. She didn't have to associate with boys in order to hear them talking all of the time.

Her arm was going numb with pain, and she decided that it was going to benefit her, because she could swing it however she pleased, and not feel a thing. The tight clench of her fist was getting harder to keep, though, as the feeling seeped through it. She tried to ignore the small crowd beginning to surface around them, as she knew that soon one of them was going to be helping her off the ground if she hadn't kneed the boy where she planned to, as much as it bothered her. Sephera couldn't lose. She couldn't. It was never something she allowed herself to do. She looked at the boy again- his eyes still glowing with the fiery hatred as before, and realized something. He was the one she'd seen at the reaping. His little brother was in the Hunger Games. She forced a smile on her lips. "What would Klaus think?" She huffed. "Of his brother getting beat up by a girl?"

If the girl possessed any amount intelligence, she would flee before Jamarion decided to finish her off in front of the crowd of peers that was accumulating around them. At least, that was his opinion on the situation. She was weak in comparison to him; he was large, muscular, and easily able to snap her in half if the situation ever called for it. Meanwhile she was small, dainty, and her blows felt like itty bitty pebbles being tossed into his face. Sure, he could feel the gentle stinging sensation upon his flesh, but that was nothing. He could take a hit like that as a toddler and not shed a single tear over it. Unfortunately, the girl was too determined for her own good. She lunged at him a second time, this time landing a sharp blow to his jaw line with a clenched fist. He could feel the prominent bones in her knuckles scrape against his mandible, but the damage was as minimum as a pillow striking him in the face. It did nothing but turn his head - and raise his boiling anger to a dangerously higher level.

His ears detected her shouts, but it sounded like insignificant jabbering to him. What she had to say was no longer important to him - only what part of her body was most vulnerable, because he was prepared to knock her to the ground and stomp her into the concrete. He brought his arm back once more, intending to sock her in the jaw rather than smack her this time around, but before he could perform the swing he felt his groin burst into flames. He collapsed to his knees before he could register her knee being the culprit, a strangled croak escaping his wide open mouth. He felt his eyes water from the agony, and for a moment there was nothing he could concentrate on but the hot flames that wrapped themselves around his family jewels. He squinted and clenched his teeth firmly to prevent any more cries from escaping -

whimpering is a sign of weakness - and slowly lifted his head to up to glance at the girl who had caused this unbearable pain. Like the fool she was, she had remained present to watch him suffer.

Mistake.

Slowly but surely he climbed back to his feet. He listened to the words that came from the girls lips - lips that would be bloodied by the time he was finished with her. It wasn’t the anger that persuaded him to absorb the words - it was the familiarity. Something she said he recognized It was a name - Klaus Goravich. ”What would Klaus think of his brother getting beaten up by a girl?”

Bigger mistake.

Despite the terrible ache in his groin he sprinted at her in an instant, bright eyes narrowed and glazed with fury. ”Don’t ever mention that name!” Klaus was his brother. His brother. And whether or not Jamarion could come to terms with his true feelings about his brother, it didn’t matter, because Klaus was dead. The girl would pay for mocking him with his own dead brother’s name.

A stern voice rang out above the panicked whispers of the observing students. ”Jamarion, stop!” The voice distracted him. Instead of plowing the girl’s bones into her face, his knuckles landed against the brick wall beside her head. He knew that voice. It was a voice he heard every day, and a voice that he despised. With his fist still pressed against the wall, he turned his head and stared at the teacher who had stopped his rampage. ”Lay another hand on that girl and I’ll call a Peacekeeper over here.” The icicles in his voice warned Jamarion that he meant no nonsense. He would summon a Peacekeeper if the bully continued, but what difference would that make? He hated everybody in the damn school anyways. Maybe escaping them was his best bet.

Defeat was not Jamarion’s closest companion, so when he finally surrendered he wore a repulsive scowl of protest. The teacher proceeded to shatter the crowd of curious and anxious students and shoot him an assertive glare before turning and abandoning the scene. Jamarion acted like a stone statue and stood frozen and silent with his arms firmly crossed over his chest. With the adrenaline emptied from his system the ache between his legs and the developing pain within his knuckles grew more intense, and he could only distract himself with the sound of his pounding heart. He was faintly aware of the girl’s presence beside him, and the temptation to turn around and execute his revenge was almost enough to make him glance up. However, with the chemicals temporarily drained from his body, the urge was not so powerful. And so he stood there, quietly, and cupped his hands over his ears.[/blockquote][/justify]

"Don’t ever mention that name!" She flinched at the fierceness of the words that hissed out of his mouth like steam. She'd hit a sore spot, and now she was going to pay for it. The bad part was: she didn't care. She forced her eyes to shut as he rared back, and released a shocked gasp as the sound of the wall beside her sounded with alarm. "CRACK!" She kept her eyes shut, afraid of what she would see if she opened them. Him. She was afraid she would see him. Afraid he was going to still be there, still be rared back, assuming the position to knock her out of consciousness. There was another voice, a teacher's voice. She was safe now, right? Slowly, she allowed one of her eyes to open, and then the other, to find the boy's fist stuck to the wall, a mere inch from her head, like glue. He looked at her as if none of what had just happened would be forgotten. Ever. This wasn't over, and he new it just as much as Sephera did. Then she realized something. She'd won, or she was winning until they were stopped. Why else was it him on the ground holding himself with the look of pain engraved in his face? Sephera had hit him more than he, her, so she won. Or at least that was how she saw it.

She slid down the wall and took a shaky breath. She was okay, albeit a little banged up, but okay. Finally, she took the time to look at the wound on her elbow, which was indeed a wound. A thin stream of blood had began to pour down her arm slowly, but surely finding it's end at her hand, and dripping off. She laid her head back and winced. Maybe she'd lost after all. Maybe this was the reason she'd lost. No, she still used it to her advantage, even after she couldn't feel it. Because she couldn't feel it. She felt bad about that last thing she said. She guessed that Klaus was a sensitive subject at the moment, and she was stupid to say what she said. So stupid to imply that he would be disappointed in the boy. She looked at him, hands cupped over his ears as if he was trying to block out a voice only he could hear.

She couldn't believe she was about to do this, but she pulled herself back onto her feet and took in a lungful of air. "I'm sorry" She spit. "About mentioning Klaus." She looked him over for any sign of...anything besides anger, but saw nothing. He hated her, and he had a reason to, but she had a reason to hate him, too. She'd done nothing to deserve what he did to her. All she had done was accidentally bump into him, and he shoved her like she spit in his face. She picked up her bag, found a napkin she'd grabbed at lunch and began wiping off the line of scarlet from her arm. She wanted to go home, to lay in her bed with Buckle and rest. She wanted to leave. Why had all of this happened? There was no logical answer. It was the exact same reason used when talking about her mother's death. There was no logical answer. It happened, and everybody was just supposed to live with it. She looked at the boy, awaiting his reply.

Everything outside of his shell was muffled. He could only hear the steadying beating of his heart, his labored breathing, and the smothered noises of the world around him. A long, exasperated sigh escaped his lips, embracing his covered ears, and he focused on what awaited him at home rather than anything else. However, before he could turn on his heels and walk away, he heard a voice shatter his precious silence. Wondering if he was hallucinating, he reluctantly uncovered his ears and turned around. Oh, right. The girl was still there. She was sitting against the wall that had nearly broken his knuckles, staring at the trail of crimson cascading down her delicate arm.

Good, let her bleed for what she did. He watched the droplets create a dime-sized pool upon the cold cement as he registered what she was saying to him. It was an apology - an apology for mentioning her brother’s name. His brother - poor, pathetic Klaus - who was in the Games, and who for some reason had triggered a strange sensation within Jamarion that caused him complete and utter misery when his name had been called that dreary, summer morning.

But what did he care? Klaus was dead anyways. His impulsive reaction to the girl’s words had merely emerged from his own flaming anger. It was in no way related to Klaus. At all. ~~At least, that’s what he tried to tell himself.~~ ”Whatever,” He crossed his arms firmly across his chest and avoided eye contact. His stubborn nature was beginning to reveal itself - he was pushing everything away. Pushing Klaus away, because Klaus was dead. ”I don’t even care about him.” His tone was cold as ice, and almost convincing. Almost. But he refused to debate whether or not the statement was a truth or a lie; he had already convinced himself that it was the truth. He didn’t care. Jamarion didn’t care about anybody. He lived for the sake of himself, and Klaus had been nothing more but an obnoxious punching bag to him. ~~Right?~~

He diverted his attention from the girl dabbing at the dripping blood with a spare napkin to glance somewhere else - anywhere else. He focused on a lonesome, grey cloud drifting on a blue canvas. It was a puny cloud, but following closely behind it was an army of darkness that threatened the area with its twisted winds and lightning. A storm was on its way, and if he didn’t stop wasting his time with this annoying little girl he would end up soggy and bitter on the doorsteps of his home. Then, Hopper would start complaining about tracking mud into the house, and he would rather not deal with the boy’s emotional turmoil at the moment. He had developed a tendency to sob at unexpected moments ever since Klaus had been snatched away by The Capitol.[/color][/blockquote][/justify]

She realized the fight was over for then when he didn't attack her once more for only speaking, but what she was hearing made no sense. If he didn't care about his brother, why did he react so strongly just by hearing his name being called? She guessed he was just trying to fool her-perhaps, even himself- into thinking that lies were truth. In other words, trying to hide his feelings, and in better words, he was being a typical, stubborn boy. It was almost cute, the way he'd went from a blood-thirsty, ravenous monster, to a kindergartener with communication problems, and if her arm wasn't hurting so badly, she might've even laughed. But that wasn't the case. She was still sitting against the wall, soaking up blood with a paper towel, and glaring at the person who'd caused it. Maybe him pushing her the first time was an accident, reflex, like whenever she slapped him, and whenever she slapped him, he was only defending himself. Maybe it was Sephera's fault. She leaned her head against the wall, and squinted her eyes shut.

She forced them to stay as they were for a moment, trying to replay what had just happened. She'd gotten into a fight with somebody that she'd never met before-a boy that stood a whole head taller than her, and an arm's length broader than her- and now she was having a conversation with him? Nothing about this was normal, but then again, what was? Was anything normal about Sephera's life? That was a joke. She only wished she could have a normal life, and it was a shame that that was the only thing she couldn't have. Not with her mother being dead, and her having no friends. Not with her being afraid to let people in. Unless some of these things were changed, Sephera Greene wasn't going to have a normal life. What quality of life would she have, if they didn't change? ~~Not a very good one, that was certain.~~

At last, she opened her eyes, and looked the boy over. He was either a great deal calmer now, or he was a great actor, because his jaw was no longer clenched, nor were his fists. His face wasn't red with rage anymore, and he was breathing more calmly. She decided that it was safe to talk to him without having to cover her face for an oncoming attack, but she also decided that it was best to avoid Klaus for now. "Um, I'm Sephera." Really? That was her reply? Why didn't she just slap an "I'm stupid" sign on her forehead? It would've seemed equally intelligent to what she'd just done! How often did a person get in a fight with somebody, and then try and make small talk ten seconds later while they were literally picking themselves up off of the ground? Never.

Never, ever, ever.

But hadn't she just done it? Was this her way of blazing new trails? By doing stupid stuff that nobody else would dare do, because it was so against what was happening? So contradictory? She pushed her lips together and hoped that he wouldn't think she was entirely mental. Surely he wouldn't, just because she was trying to be nice, rather than rip his head off, but perhaps that was the only reason he needed. She rose to her feet, so that she didn't have o crane her neck so harshly in order to see him, to see his eyes-which were quite beautiful, actually- Now that his face wasn't as sullen and bitter, he was actually a lot more attractive. She wouldn't admit it to him, of course, or anybody for that matter, but it was the truth. Everything about him appearance wise was spot on. If he wasn't so angry at everybody, and she assumed he was, he'd probably be one of the most popular kids in school, and that was what normal kids wanted, right? To fit in? That wasn't what Sephera wanted, the complete opposite, actually. What if he was like her? Maybe this was his way of staying out of the spot light. She was fine with it, she just wished that in the future, he would attempt murder on somebody else.

There was a distant rumbling that disturbed the peaceful silence of the school yard. Over the horizon Jamarion could see nothing but approaching darkness and faint, threatening flashes of sapphire light. It was already casting a dark shadow upon the district, and he knew he would have to leave soon if he wanted to arrive home in time to avoid the rainwater. For the time being, though, his feet remained planted to the cement, and he stood idly with his hands shoved into his pockets, his right hand throbbing from his punching the brick wall only minutes ago. He wasn’t sure what he was waiting for - a reply from the girl, perhaps? Yes, he expected her to make another foolish remark. A remark that would piss him off and give him an excuse to beat her to a pulp. The children had vanished, after all, and the moronic professor had trusted his own authority enough to believe in Jamarion’s ability to control himself. Would he disobey a teacher’s direct orders? In a heartbeat. All he needed was an excuse. Let her mention Klaus, let her tease him about striking his sensitive area, because in the end she would learn her lesson as soon as his heel left the ground.

The girl’s voice was ringing in his ears, but it was not the insult he had secretly been hoping for. Instead, it was an introduction; the stupid girl was telling him her name, as if he really gave a damn about her identity. He was tempted to scoff and roll his eyes, but rather, he just glared at her again, though this time his irises were not ablaze with seething anger and hatred. No, this was mild irritation - nothing too threatening, if the girl was careful.

”Good for you.” The insolent reply propelled itself out before he could think twice about it. He hadn’t meant to actually respond. He had intended upon glaring at her and waiting for her to say something else. But Jamarion was never a patient human being to begin with, so how could he bear to stand there in silence while the girl stared at him with her wandering, little eyes? What was she doing, anyways? Studying him? She seemed to be staring at everything but his face, and when she finally did, he instinctively glanced away. Where did that reflex come from?

It was apparent the girl was in no mood to instigate another fight, let alone insult him again - or so it seemed. Her posture and calm expression radiated her internal serenity, and to his disappointment, he realized that his provoking her with rudeness might no longer serve as a useful tactic. Still, there was a lesson to be taught, and that was to never mess with Jamarion Goravich. Obviously, the girl knew something about his family what with her mentioning Klaus and all, but he wondered if she actually knew who he was. That was equally as important as recognizing his brother. ”Jamarion.” It was a name nobody in Panem could possibly share. It was so unique and strayed from the inside of the box that there could never be another Jamarion, ad that was exactly why Sephera should find the name familiar. He had a reputation, and if the girl didn’t know anything about it, then it would be a wise idea to find out. ”You might’ve heard the name already.” Always so confident, Jamarion.[/blockquote][/justify]

She was tempted to reach up and slap him across his face again as he smarted off. Seriously, what was his problem? Sure, it might not have been the best idea in the world for her to go from one extreme to another, but why was he so rude to her? Not just to her. If any of her assumptions were right, he was like this to everybody. He walked around sullen, and with a chip on his shoulder. He made others feel badly because he himself felt badly, and he was too much of a drama queen to fix it. Sephera was never wrong. She knew that her conclusions of the boy were right from the moment she'd thought of them. Why else would a person want to fight simply because of a commonly made, simple mistake? Exactly. People like this boy spent their days trying to pull people under the dark clouds of evil for no reason. They swung their fiery claws at anything that came close to them, even though they knew hat it would result in pain, because it meant they got what they wanted. Somebody had stooped down to their level. The innocent prey was just as cold and heartless as they were.

"Jamarion."

Jamarion. Klaus. Goravich. Jamarion Goravich! As she slipped the pieces together, her facial expression went from that of anger to confusion. She'd heard the name before, she was certain of it. But where? She tried to remember, but had no luck. The only thing she could remember was that it wasn't a particularly good thing, his name. It was associated with vile hings, and she knew it. Perhaps, if she would've met him on different circumstances, she would have shrugged it off as another teenage rumor, but given what had just happened, she knew it was truth. "You might’ve heard the name already." Again, he spit the words like he was under attack, like he'd never been more unimpressed by something in his entire life. Hell no. There was no way she was going to let him when this. Whatever it was. He'd made one to many mistakes, and he needed to suffer for it. She took a step toward him, trying her hardest to meet his eye. "Maybe I haven't." The words didn't sound nearly as angry as she'd wanted them to. Actually, they hadn't came off as angry at all. Then what? what did they come off as?

Sickened? No. Sad? No. Scared? No.

She searched her brain as best as she could to find how the line sounded. The way she'd said it with such heavy breath, such a quiet whisper of a tone. So..so...seductive. Her eyes widened with awe. What the hell was wrong with her? This was the boy that had just came inches from kicking her ass because they accidentally bumped into each other! The one who was so quick to hurt her. Why on earth would she be attracted to him? Yes, he was extremely attractive appearance wise, there was no disputing, but he was an asshole! She was too. Jamarion Goravich wasn't the only one who was quick to swing, was he? He'd done nothing that she hadn't done herself. No. She wasn't like him, and she wasn't attracted to him! Right? The warm breath hitting her face was swaying her judgement, forcing her to like him, to want him, but she couldn't find herself moving away from it. She was trapped, like a pathetic little mouse in a maze, who only had one way of getting out, doing what it's owners wanted. That was what she had to do. Play this game his way. Wait, what game? There was no game! Jamarion was no friend of Sephera's and he wasn't going to be any time soon!

She cursed in her mind, and found her eyes that, albeit, were still filled with hatred, seemed more curious, like Sephera was some sort of an experiment. A lab rat.

”Maybe I haven’t.” The silk texture of her tone caused sirens to blare inside of his skull. What exactly was she playing at? Her voice was too soft to suggest anger, yet too confident to suit sadness, fear, or irritation. So then, what was she? His subconscious warned him that whatever it was, it was a threat. Not a physical threat - none that would require his defending himself. But, it was a threat nonetheless, and something Jamarion couldn’t quite understand. Still, there was no reason for him to back down. He was Jamarion Goravich - something the girl failed to understand. He was the boy that sent children sprinting down the street shouting for their mothers with bloodied noses and battered faces. He was the boy that scattered children in the hallway with his presence alone, forcing them to side-step and form a path to let the beast through. He was the boy that would never let a pathetic girl weaken and humiliate him. Whether she was threatening or not, he would remain high and mighty like a hero’s golden statue.

Jamarion angled himself toward the girl and crossed his arms in front of his broad chest. He arched a brow at her, questioning the intent of her inappropriate tone, and muttered a response.

”Well, you should’ve.” The arrogance was practically melting into his tone, as if everybody should know who he was and what he did. He figured it was important, since it concerned everybody’s safety. ”I kick a lot of asses in this school, and yours might be next.” The venom in his warning was not as abundant as he had first intended. It was almost a casual response, as if enough anger had been drained from his system to leavehim unable to start another fire beneath the cauldron. Instead of his emotions boiling and bubbling, they were simmered down to a very mild state placing him at an almost neutral condition. Still, he knew his warning was legitimate. He was not lying to himself when he said she could be his next victim. He was leaning towards his rare, tranquil side for the time being, but he was still Jamarion; he was still dangerous.

There was a flash of white light and a crackle of thunder as deafening as a child’s screech. If Jamarion was capable of experiencing fear, he would’ve flinched. Instead, though, he diverted his gaze to the sky and once again surveyed the approaching darkness. It was traveling quicker than he had first predicted, and now it was raging on with an iron fist. Soon, it would conquer district three with its wrath and leave Jamarion dripping from its tears. It was too late to escape, he could see that now - this stupid girl had tricked him into staying. Whatever game she was playing with him, it was now becoming a nuisance. What was she trying to accomplish, anyways? She certainly wasn’t making her goal appear obvious, that was for sure. Well, whatever it is, she will not be victorious.[/blockquote][/justify]

She still questioned herself for the way she had spoken. She tried to find any motives she may have had, which was rather difficult to do, considering she didn't even mean to say it that way. She couldn't even imagine what was going through Jamarion's mind at that time, because she still hadn't quite discovered what was happening in her own. She knew that whatever the reason was, it was one that she would disagree with, because flirtation didn't come with hatred, did it? But how could she protest her own feelings? Was she even flirting? Did she even hate him? Her mind was in such confusion, she was only vaguely able to hear his voice, which was quite nice when it wasn't throwing insults like daggers. "Well, you should’ve." Self confidence wasn't something Sephera had a lot of, and something he clearly had enough of to share. He sounded confused. Good. She didn't know why, but she was glad to hear the confusion that laced his words. It slipped it's silky cloud around his mind just as it had done her's. Perhaps she was trying to confuse him from the beginning? Or saw this as a way of getting away from him? No, none of it sounded right, or like something she would do. Then, what? "I kick a lot of asses in this school, and yours might be next." A smile crept across her mouth as easily as a spider could've in her sleep. "I think you should've told me that before you commenced to kick mine." She looked at the ground, at the shifting shadows. There must've been a cloud moving in front of the sun, or something. "Think it might be a little late, unless you plan on doing it again." She stated. "Are you?"

Shit. She'd done it again. She was acting like they were just two friends that had never even heard of the word "argument". She felt like she was one of the testing mice her father used all of the time again. Trapped, until she was allowed to go on her way. She had no control over what was going on around her, no control of what she was doing. She was just trying to get out as soon as possible, and every time she thought she'd found the correct route at last, it came to a dead halt, and she had o turn on her heels and run in the opposite direction. Right then she wished that mazes were a straight line, with only one direction to go, and only one to return to, but labyrinths weren't kind enough to be as such, so she needed to just see if the next turn was the right way.

CRACK!

The sound was too close to the one that had sounded as Jamarion's hand smacked the wall beside her ear, and for a second, she thought that he'd swung again, but when her eyes sliced the air to stare into his, she saw only the same confusion she heard in his voice. But, there, behind his head, was storm cloud after storm cloud. How had she not noticed before? Before it was too late to run home? Her eyelids clasped together tightly. Sephera hated the rain. It made everything sad, and wet. It prevented her from escaping her home, and her father's always well-meaning hands. She loved her father, but she wished she didn't. She wished he would just stop loving her, too, because if something happened to him, it would be the end of her. Ha, who was she kidding?

Sephera Greene disappeared a long time ago, and she was never coming back.

A hint of an amused smile spread across his lips. The girl was bold, he’d give her that. Most women at this point would be cowering away from him as if he were a wolf waiting to pounce. This girl, however, seemed unfazed by his intimidating vibe. Impressive, but it wasn’t enough to persuade him not to consider smacking her again. If she provoked him one more time, it was all over.

”Maybe.” A cocky smirk dominated his normally-scowling features. If she truly was as fearless as she acted, why would she even bother to question his intentions? The solution was simple; she was pretending. Sure, she could act brave and heroic in front of him, but once she experienced the real meaning of dueling Jamarion she would be reduced to a sobbing heap, just like the rest. That is, if he actually decided to reintroduce the fight. It was tempting to do so, but there was a slight dilemma at hand--

CRACK!

Yeah, that.

Jamarion felt a cold drop against the tip of his nose. He blinked, and felt another one graze his arm. Shit. Droplets of shockingly cold water plummeted from the formidable sky in gentle sprinkles when he began to realize how royally screwed he was. His gaze momentarily flickered to the sky as if checking to see if the rain was a mere illusion. To his dismay, he could see the clear drops of liquid falling toward him and felt them caress his previously warm skin. He then scanned the perimeter for potential shelter, and immediately spotted a boy strolling by with an umbrella clenched within his hands. Jamarion recognized him - he was one of those nerds in his mathematics class that sat in the front of the room and earned perfect test scores. What a bastard he was, strutting around the district dry as a desert while Jamarion was stranded in the cold. Well, that certainly wouldn’t last long, now would it?

His predatory gaze sweeping over the him, Jamarion glided over to the defenseless boy like a silent jungle cat stalking its next meal. The boy spotted him in time to flinch, but there was no time to run or hope; he was captured. ”Give me the umbrella,” he stated in a monotone, thrusting his hand forward to accept what he knew the boy would pass over. The boy stared at him with mixed terror and recognition in his eyes - of course he knows who I am - and attempted to mutter a response, though all he could spew were a few stutters of frightened protest. Jamarion was too impatient to endure the idiot’s pathetic gibberish, so he snatched the umbrella with one hand and simultaneously shoved him to the ground with the other. As if on cue, the storm released the worst of its wrath and flooded the skies with its pouring water. With a smirk of victory, Jamarion held the umbrella above his head and silently reveled in his success.[/color][/blockquote][/justify]

What once was an open, warm sky with clouds that tempted birds to fall onto them was now a thrashing ship, threatening to knock several people over board. As soon as the conversation with Jamarion had started, it was over. The rain had separated the two like an invisible force field, something that they couldn't quite see, but were very much aware of. His foot steps sounded, and as each one fell, the sound got quieter and quieter, further and further away. Sephera turned on her heels to do the same thing, but fond only confusion everywhere she looked. It must have only been her usually ever-so-curious eyes and the boy that filled his with hate that hadn't noticed the rain, because they were the only two around that had no protection from the harsh bite of cold that came with each drop of water. Rain was something of a pain to Sephera, and it always would be.

Her eyes searched for any place that offered a break from the symphony of aqua that had so quickly erupted around her, but only found the boy she had been speaking to moments ago with a tiny umbrella, and another boy, one smaller than Sephera. Like her, he was standing in the rain dazed, probably for the same reasons she was. It all happened so quickly. But Sephera wasn't only thinking of the rain. She was thinking of the past few minutes of her life, when she'd gotten into a fight with a face she'd never spoken to, and proceeded to have a quick conversation with. Why not make things that much weirder? Her feet stomped through the already-forming puddles until the gigantic frame was close enough to hear her voice.

"Think there might be room for one more?" She pleaded.

The look on Jamarion's face told her that he was going to say no, but the voice in the back of her head didn't care. He was going to share it, even if it meant her jumping on his back. If she couldn't have it, neither could he, she already knew it before he even replied. She looked up at him, at his damp curls, and the ribbons of water sliding down his face like silk. She knew she probably looked desperate, but she needed a way to get to the center of the maze she was in, just like all lab rats, and this was how she planned to do so. It was with tenacity that she took a step forward, and pierced Jamarion's eyes with innocence. She hadn't used that face in ages, before her mother died, but it was the only way she was going to get what she wanted. It was the only way she was going to escape the cold labyrinth walls that surrounded her, and offered no comfort or pity.

Crystal droplets slithered down the center of his forehead. He wiped them away with the back of his hand and squinted in an attempt to see into the haze that was silver mist and pouring raindrops. The pitter-patter of the freezing shower against his newly acquired shield was the only sound that erupted in his ears, thus leaving him oblivious to the soaking wet victim who was slipping and scrambling to his feet to flee for shelter. He also failed to notice the girl’s approach as he turned on his heels and pointed his nose in the direction of home, where a sanctuary of warmth and comfort awaited him. It was a surprise and a bother when she nearly collided with his broad frame and completely interrupted his venture home. The umbrella offered little space for movement - it was meant for one, obviously, and now the irksome girl had the audacity to ask him if he was willing to share what he now rightfully owned, after she had nearly turned him sterile with her kneecap! ”Think there might be room for one more?” The way she said it made his nerves twitch. It felt like such fabricated sweetness, like he was talking to a poisonous lollipop. How repulsing.

He glared impatiently at the pleading, damp thing standing in his personal space, and growled at her bitterly.

"Are you kidding me?” He was forced to raise his voice in order to hear himself above the storm’s deafening chaos. A gust of wind jerked his precious umbrella to the side, temporarily engulfing him in what felt like frost, and with a grunt he yanked it back into position with a scowl distorting his features. Now, the entire left side of his pant leg was heavy with absorbed water. Wonderful. How much more trouble would this girl cause him? ”There’s no way I’m sharing with you.” He practically snorted at her. Sharing? Since when had anybody ever heard of Jamarion sharing anything with anybody? Everybody who could identify him could tell her that he was a selfish bastard. He would place himself on the pedestal before anyone else, no matter what their relationship to him was. ~~Perhaps that is why he didn’t volunteer for his for brother.~~ Did she really expect to win him over with begging and puppy eyes?

The instant she stepped toward him a crackle of thunder pierced the skies and every eardrum in the district. The shockingly frightening sound startled him enough to blink rapidly and tighten his grip on the umbrella, but he remained firm on his feet and glanced about the area. Wind speeds were picking up the pace a bit, sweeping stray droplets underneath Jamarion’s umbrella and into his clothing. This only spiked his irritation into anger as his impatience reached its highest point. It was either go now or arrive soaked, but he knew the girl wouldn’t leave him alone, especially judging by the glint of determination in her eyes and the pouting expression she was flashing him. Innocence and purity did nothing to persuade him - however, his impatience and longing to return home before his time was stolen and wasted with this girl convinced him to just give up. With a melodramatic sigh of exasperation he adjusted the umbrella’s position so that it covered both of them and began to walk in whatever direction she led him to. ”Fine, whatever. But you better not live far from here.”[/justify][/blockquote]
