- Parents met at the fish market of the District, when Mr Ventura brought fish and Mrs Ventura-to-be sold them
- Her and her brother were as thick as thieve from the day they met, always supporting one another (though mostly it was Darius supporting Dahra)
- Mother's alcoholism took over her life when the children still young, and the family grew distant from her as a unit.
- When Dahra was nine their father was killed in a horrific boating accident
- She had to rely on Darius' begging and fighting for food
- Dahra found a job singing in market squares and in coast taverns, and got over her fear of their regulars by immersing herself in her favourite hobby
- For this reason, she never needed anything as a stress release as Darius did, and tries constantly to find a natural release for him as well
