Even my blood is technicolor. It's why I can't stay still in any sense, changing my hair as often as I twitch my fingers — cutting it to the latest Capitol style and recoloring before the dye from my last hue has even set — restless with reinvention. I am in a constant state of flux and it is only the things I lack the technology to alter that stay the same: boring brown eyes; full lips; a tanned skin tone. However, I aspire to so much more.

My cousin Nero invents things, as if toys might change his life. Wasted talent, although I'll never tell him so. His heart is mechanical and there is a part of him that wants to give everything he is over to that aspect of his being and I wish he would. Maybe then we could understand each other, or rather, maybe he would understand me and this persistent knowing within the depths of my shallow soul that I can be more than what I currently am. Instead Nero simply wants to change the District with his sparkly little robots that go BOOM like a child's party trick and I —

I want to alter myself until my very existence becomes enough to change Panem. Truth be told, I haven't sorted out all the details yet, but I'll do whatever I have to. If Nero can blow a few things up in his endeavor, then I'll find a way to modify my hands so I'm capable of taking down the entire District with my bare fists. You see, one-upping him isn't my end game, it's just leisurely practice. A mildly amusing way to pass the time, if you will. After all, one needs something to do with themselves between wardrobe changes.
