Kryptonite District 6 (done)

I took a walk around the world to ease my trouble mind

I was told I had a pretty face. I was told it was all perfect and precious, but that had to have been a lie. I stand in front of the shattered mirror that holds all the memories I can't remember. I look at my reflection wondering how I could possibly have a pretty face. My hair. Oh, how I love my hair. My hair is part of my life. I don't know what I would do without it. It's naturally light blonde. I love how my bangs is longer than the rest of my hair. I love how it makes the rest of my face stand out. My eyes are very noticeable because of it. My eyes are round and brown. They sit almost perfectly on my face. I was told that is is true? It has to be true if someone told me that before. My ears are out of proportion with the rest of my face. They stick out farther than most ears do. I can't imagine what the others see. My ears don't allow me to hear much. My nose is at an odd angle. It's been this way for as long as I can remember. I was lied to. My ears, and my nose can't be part of a pretty face. I look at my mouth. My bottom lip is larger than my top lip. It's almost embarrassing, but it's my face. Only I can choose how I feel about it.

I was told I was once the prettiest guy alive. I was told I had the best voice in all of district six. "You have the best voice around. When you woud sing, everyone would stop and stare." I remember my mom telling me this. It's strange that I remember this, but I can. I speak now to try to hear my voice. I want to know what it sounds like. I need to hear if what my mom said is true. "Is is true? Do I really sound that good?" I cringe at the sound of my voice. It's very hoarse and extremely muffled. Do I really sound like this? Is my voice really this muffled? I should have known it was all a lie. I should have known it wasn't the truth at all. I shake my head. I lift up my shirt to look at my chest and my abs. My eyes widen. I can't believe my eyes. Scars cover my chest and my abdomen. I'm covered in scars. Must be from having my flesh burnt off. No hair grows on my chest or my abdomen. My belly button is missing although it's probably hidden underneath this huge scar. I drop the mirror. I can't stand looking at myself anymore. They are all liars! They lied to make me feel good! I move away from the mirror hating that I ever looked inside.

"You are not crazy."I was told this several times, but the truth is, I'm crazy and deserve to be in an insane asylum. I hear things that I shouldn't hear. I see things I shouldn't see. I speak things I shouldn't speak. Memories that haunt me keep playing over and over in my head. Memories of an explosion. I can see the fire. I scream trying to run away from it. I can hear the screams of the victims burning alive in the flame. I can smell the flesh being burnt. People just look at me like I'm crazy. Tears form in my eyes because nobody believes me. I'm unsure of what to think because I can't tell what's real or what's fake anymore. Why won't they believe me? Am I really crazy? All I want is for someone to understand me. I long for someone to accept me. I'm lonely. I'm tired of going through this world all alone although I don't trust people. "Run away! Run get away from here!" I don't know why I try. Nobody believes me. I wouldn't believe me because this nation is full of liars. This nation is full of troublemakers that can't be controlled. If the nation wants troublemakers, I can be the biggest troublemaker of them all. I'll get people to trust me in the end.

I was told I was the smartest person alive. This I can believe. I'm good at physics and chemistry, well, I was at one point. I loved mixing chemicals together trying to figure out what kind of reaction would happen. I'm named after the element Krypton. Krypton is one of my favorite elements. I never figured out why though. I guess it has to do with my name. I was told to never mix elements I was unsure of because the reaction can be very unpleasant. I feel free and relaxed when I'm sitting at a desk working with the chemicals. I wanted to be a chemical engineer, but that all failed. I regret messing with the chemicals. I regret not listening to my family as they warned me about it. I was warned not to mix two chemicals together that I was unsure of, but I had to see for myself what would happen. I'm a terrible listener. I usually allow things I'm told to go in one ear and out the other. I'm curious about many things. If I'm told not to do something, it makes me want to do it that much more. I should probably start listening to what I'm told. I would have never gotten in this mess in the first place. My heart shatters knowing I was wrong.

You stumbled in and bumped your head
If not for me then you'd be dead
I picked you up and put you back on solid ground

I was told everything would work out. I was fed lies. Nothing will ever work out. I ruined it all! I ruined everything. I always ruin everything! I pound my fists against my head. I'm worthless. I'm a terrible person. I should go to the dark side of the nation and never return. Death would be an escape for me, but I'm stuck living in a nation that doesn't care. I constantly wonder if there's a way to escape from it. I can't run away though because I would be labelled a coward. I don't want to be labelled a coward because I'm not. I could escape with death, but it would have to be caused by someone else. I'm lucky though. It could be a lot worse. I could be trapped at the Capitol unable to talk. I cringe. I can't leave. I have to stay here and be strong. I want to leave; however, I can't. I can't undo what's been done. "Don't run away from the mistakes that's been made. Learn from them, and move on. If you learn from the mistakes, you won't make the same mistake again." I remember being told this, and I hold onto it with all the hope I have left. I hold on to this knowing I can move on if I try to. I don't think moving on is possible though.

I spent most of my life doing what I was told. I was a good child, and I lived a happy life. I went to school like I was supposed to and did well. I excelled with physics and chemistry. My father was a physics major, and my mother worked as a chemist. I was a "mommy's boy." It was strange though because my father always thought I would be a "daddy's boy." It was only natural for me to excel in those to subjects. I love math and working with numbers. Mathematics comes easily. Science is easy, but my skills in History of Panem and whatever else I had to learn failed. I didn't care much for it. I was constantly bored and looking for ways to get out of doing as much homework as I could. I was a typical kid. I hated going to certain classes. I never wanted to wake up early, but I was forced to by my parents. If I had my way, I would have only went to the science courses, and the mathematics courses. I would skip everything else. I have twin brother, Kelton. He's the total opposite of me. I would do his mathematics and science homework and he would do all my other homework. He was different, but I didn't care. I loved him just like I was supposed to. I was content.

I went to my mother one day. I wanted to go to work with her. I wanted to see what she did. I wanted to learn more about the elements. "Mother, can I go to work with you today?" I asked as politely as I possibly could. "Yes, as long as you don't touch anything. Kelton will be coming with us." I don't want Kelton to go. I sigh as quietly as I possibly can. My heart jumped in joy. I was finally getting to go see what my mother did. "You cannot mix the chemicals though unless you are sure you know what they do!" She said more to me that to Kelton. My heart drops. She doesn't trust me. Well, I wouldn't either right now. I'll be around a lot of chemicals. I got ready as fast as I could. I ran to the door to meet my mother. I walked along side her with a huge smile on my face. We arrived at her work. I stood in awe as I stared at all the chemist working. I wanted to run in, stop at a station, and mix every chemical possible, but I had to remember what my mother said. I didn't want to get in trouble yet as I have a lot I want to explore. My mother walked away, and my grin grew bigger.

I'm so excited. I feel like a child in a candy store. I ran up to one of the empty stations and looked at all the chemicals that were in the test tubes. I've never seen so many chemicals before. I dump the chemicals with the same name into a larger tube. I do this with three chemicals. My mother is going to kill me. I take the chemicals and mix the three of them together. I don't even look at the labels to see what they are. I look around. My mother and Kelton are nowhere to be found. I walk away from the station as the chemicals start smoking like crazy. I am three steps away from the door. Boom! I'm thrown four feet backwards from the initial explosion. My head lands on something hard. I feel blood running down the back of my head. I can't move. I'm stuck. I'm afraid. I place my hands on my ears hoping to hear, but I don't. Three more explosions follow. I scream out in pain. Flames cover my torso. I can smell my own flesh burning. "Run!" I scream at the top of my lungs. It's no use though. I can barely hear myself. It's all over as soon as it starts. Leaving my mother and my brother dead as well as my mother's closest friends.
