Spending time together (10stare)

I see a flash of silver under the water and smile
"How about a little fishing?" I ask. "But instead of using a pole, we use our hands. What we catch I'll gut and cook, and we can have a good dinner."
It's an almost impossible task. Fish are quick and slippery, and hard to kill. They're small, too, and can find ways out of your hand. Once out of water, they'll try to leap back in if you don't keep watch. All in all, it's very difficult.
But that's what makes it fun.

I take a deep breath, then dive underwater until I'm laying at the bottom. I hold my arms up towards the surface and then stay still, gripping some rocks with my feet so I don't float back to the surface.
Soon, I feel brush against my hand. My lungs are burning, and when I try to grip it, the sudden movement sends me flying to the surface for air.
I throw my head back and take a deep breath of the sweet air, then dive back under, not about to be discouraged easily. This time, I manage to grab one, but as soon as it's out of the water, it leaps back into the water and swims away. I shake my head, but laugh.
"I don't care about dinner," I say, sure that Kresh is watching me fail. "I just want to have a good time."

I raise my eyebrows in surprise, crossing my arms over my chest.
"Oh?"
I swim towards him, a grin on my face as I surface about two feet away from him. My eyes sparkle, and I can't help but notice the sun is in the west...
A fish tickles my foot, and I quickly go under and try to grab it. It evades me, and I surface again, grinning wider when I see I splashed Kresh.
"How about you come up with the next fun idea?"

I watch his face redden, and without thinking, laugh.
Then, I grin again, watching him. My eyes sparkle. After he says nothing else but um, blink slowly and tilt my head to the side teasingly.
"I don't know about you, but um doesn't seem very fun," I say with a laugh. "Tell me when you've thought of something."
I lean forward and kiss him to let him know I'm teasing, then dive under again, searching for fish.

I hear Kresh dive in behind me, and I smile slightly. I see a flash of silver, and quickly reach out for it, wrapping my hands around it and then pushing my feet off the ground, racing up to the surface.
When I get there, I squeeze the fish tightly, crushing it. Soon, it's squirming stops. I stare in amazement and shock at the dead fish in my hands. It's no bigger then my palm, hardly any meat, but still.
"I caught one," I say, my voice plain shock. Then, I grin. "I caught one!"

"You have to cup your hands, like a cage," I say, holding my hands together like when I had caught one. "It's not easy to get one in, but once you do, you can crush them and there you go."
I go back into the water, attempting to repeat my brilliant strategy. Unfortunately, the fish feels the movement in the water and swims away. The next five attempts end with the same results.
"Man," I say when I surface. "That fish I caught must have really been stupid. All the others know I'm there."
