Whatever It Takes [tag;; Amira]

~Amira~

Amira also tightened her grip on Duke's hand. He was willing to possibly provoke her father, to protect her. It made her feel relieved that she was safe, but also nervous for what her father would do in the future.

Her father's eyes darkened a shade but he merely nodded. "Go ahead." His voice was seemingly calm, but the sound of rage was cracking through in places. Glaring at Duke and then at Amira, he rose from his seat and stormed off, though he did make sure he was still in a place he could keep an eye on them. He was not going to have Amira's mouth ruin everything he worked to accomplish. Amira's mother flinched as her husband left. Amira smiled softly at Duke and mouthed, Thank you. She walked over to where her mom had left food out from them and grabbed enough for the two of them.

Amira smiled at Duke as she sat down to eat. "He was not at all happy. You manage to get him to leave us alone, for now anyway." She sighed in relief. Even though it would be short lived. She knew as soon as Duke left, she was going to get it, big time. But it was worth it if Duke got to leave unharmed after an encounter with her father. "I'm glad you ok, I thought for sure he'd go after you." She kisses him quickly.

Amira rested her head on his shoulder, "Really? It's been like this for so long, I can't imagine finally being free from him." She sighed and closed her eyes, "Don't risk getting yourself hurt though. When you leave today, I'll just shut up and let him beat on me. I can put up with it until I'm 18 and can leave him. You dying isn't worth rushing to get out of here." Amira wrapped her arms around his waist.
From the other room Amira's father watched in disgust. His daughter was sucking up to some boy. Were they really stupid enough to think they could pull a fast one on him?
