Drama at the Fairchild Estate (Open)

"Come in?" said the tentative voice from the other side of the door. I allowed myself one indulgent eye roll before I opened the door. I didnt mind Serena they way I hated my other masters. Serena kind of reminded me of myself before I became an Avox. I opened the door and stepped inside, alert and unyeilding, nothing like the other Avoxes, heads down, eyes quiet. I met Serena's gaze and pointed to the pile of clothes in the corner of the room, a question in my eyes.

"Their clothes. Nothing else. I don't really care what you do with them!" Serena sighs. "Sorry. I didn't mean that," Her eyes widen and she furrows her brow, angry at herself for apologizing to me. "What I meant to say was, 'You can wash them, if you'd like or I can take care of them later. It's not a big deal.'" She scowls again and I find that I would almost laugh if I still had my tongue. "You know what, nevermind the clothes. I'm hungry. You want to eat?" This of all the things she has said takes me by surprise, Serena is asking me if I am hungry. I hesitate and then nod, one eyebrow raised. I stand awkwardly in the middle of the room as she orders an exorbient amount of fattening foods. Serena smiles slightly as a plate of deep fried potatoes slides up in front of her. Taking a handful she looks up at me, an odd expression on her face.
"Take whatever you want. I ordered enough for two," And then she shakes her head obviously confused by something. I stare at her, sure she is losing her mind before grabbing three chocolate covered strawberries.

As I relish the sweet fruit, I notice Serena staring at me, her eyes narrowed. For a second I consider glaring at her but then she leaps up, and grabs something, shoving it at me. I look down and see the notepad and pencil from the table beside me.
"I want to know," Serena says. "I really want to know." It's an order but I can tell from her tone that it's also a request. I narrow my eyes, and asses her expression, it's earnest. I sigh, and take the pencil, scribbling quickly.

My father was head gamemaker. I loved my life, but I was too rebelious.

I write and then tack on as an afterthought.

I spat on President Snow.

Serena apologized but I shake my head, laughing silently. I snatch the notepad back and scribble down.

I spilled punch on Claudius Templesmith. He looked like his head was going to explode.

I pause, wondering if this is really wise, forming a tolerance to her owner. But I was never one for normality so I hands the notepad back to Serena, waiting for a response.

(ooc: okay my question marks and all that arent working so some stuff might have awful grammar.)

`We're gonna be great friends. I can just tell." Serena pulls me into a hug and I gasp, caught off gaurd. She leans back, looking me in the eye, `Friends` We could both get in enourmous trouble for this, I could probably even be killed but in this moment, while she is grinning conspiritorily I cant even think of why that would matter. I grin hugely and nod. I raise one eyebrow and glance towards her bed. I know what my eyes say.

Serena, giggle, quietly and gestures to the bed.
"Of course!" I smile in lay down, stretching out. It has been a while since I was this comfortable. Avoxes didnt get proper beds, so this is a moment to relish. Serena, my friend, lies down next to me, her eyes sliding shut. I can tell she is losing conciousness, but she continues to mumble quietly.
"Tomorrow we're going to do something. Something amazing. Goodnight, Twix." She drifts off, rolling over and taking up a light snore. I smile wider, at Serena's peculiar innocence and drift off to sleep.

The sound of the TV wakes me up. I prop myself up on my elbow, and gaze blearily around. I notice the Games recap. That boy Oz died, too bad I liked him. I scowl at the TV, hating the Hunger Games and all they stand for. Those boys and girls are dying in that arena for the same reason I cannot speak and are now serving others. A wave of anger at the injustice roars in my ears and I am suddenly revolted by what I have done. I agreed to be friends with someone who watches the Games for fun, who loves to bid and party and dreams of meeting the victors. Serena hears, me moving and turns around, smiling. I scowl at her, practically melting her with my eyes. She stares at me for a moment blankly and then opens her mouth as if to say something. I shake my head and get to my feet. I snatch up her clothes that are strewn on the floor and grab the peices of paper we wrote on last night. Serena is still watching me, her eyes following my every move. I take the pencil and scribble down one thing before racing out of the room, trying to hold back the tears that are rapidly, and stupidly coming to my eyes. I glance back once at the door, and know she has read my small printing.

I don't wan't us to get in trouble. It's not right. Sorry.
