"Oh I'm so sorry!" Marco said as the girl fell into the water. "Here, let me help you." He picked up the back of fish and easily flung it over his shoulder. Then, he took the girl's hand and lifted her to her feet. Their eyes met, but then they both ackwardly looked away. Marco was on his way to swimming training, but he really wanted to help the girl. He couldn't just leave her here, soaking wet. Marco put the bag of fish on the ground and grabbed his bag which hung loosely on his shoulders. Inside, he found a dry towel and handed it gently to the girl. "I'm Marco," he said, "What's your name?"

"Training, well I mean swimming training. Six hours on the weekends. It's really a pain. Where are you headed?" Marco asked as he flung the backpack back over his shoulders.

"I love swimming, when I'm not being forced to do it," Marco said. "Hey maybe after training, do you want to...I don't know, hang out? Swim? Something like that? Marco asked nervously. He waited for Cala's reply.

"Well, it starts in about a half an hour, at eleven, and it ends at about five. Oh, and it's over there, about a half a mile away, at the other side of the lake." Marco pointed at it. "So, yeah, maybe afterwards." He smiled at Cala.

Swimming practice seemed to take forever for Marco. All he could think about was Cala, with her blonde hair and her smile. When there was about a half an hour left, he saw Cala sitting on the side, her feet hanging over the edge of the dock. He smiled when he saw her. She smiled back.

Finally, swimming was finished. Marco motioned for Cala to come on in and she did. "Want to race?" He asked. She nodded, so they both started swimming as fast as they could, not even knowing where they were going to end.

Many guys would have been embarassed that a girl could beat them in a race, but Marco wasn't. This was only the first try. Plus, she hadn't even gotten to see his real talent yet. "Wanna try again?" Marco asked. She nodded, so they swam back, but this time Marco swam faster and used up his energy. Cala was right next to him, swimming parellel to his stroke. This time, Marco won by barely a millisecond. He smiled. "You're an awesome swimmer. Truthfully, one of the best I've seen, considering you beat me the first time."
