Anna smiled widely as she walked drunkenly down some random street. She was exploring. And quite sober, really. But she had remembered this one time that her fairy friend Lily had told her that if you walk along all the cracks in the road all day, and never step on a place without a crack, until you step inside a house, where cracks shouldn't be, you'd get one of your wishes to come true. Anna already knew what she'd wish for. She'd forgotten, but she knew.
She looked at the sky suddenly, because she'd seen something. It was a bird, but it looked angry, so she let it be. Birds didn't like Anna very much, because she kept Lily safe from them. Lily said fairies were the tastiest treats for the birds. "Well that's what you get, for being small as a bug, you know," she said to no one in particular. Lily wasn't anywhere near.
She looked back at the ground as she almost stepped into a space without cracks. She leaped, landing on the crack across the clear spot. She raised her fists in victory, then kept walking. Her smile wider than before. Until she reached a spot without any cracks at all. Not even one she could jump to. She frowned, looking around her. "Excuse me," she said to the first person she saw. She didn't really pay much attention to them, except to make sure that they were human, before she looked back at the ground, her frown etching worry lines into her forehead. "Excuse me, but could you crack the street please? I can't go home and make my wish unless you crack the street."
