"So where are we going?"

The words slapped me back to reality. Where would we stay? I had no idea. But then I remembered.

"The Grizzle!" I exclaim. "It's this abandoned house that a rich family used to own. But I guess they died and had no will. So it just sits there. We could live there. I mean, it's pretty crappy, but it will have to do."

I look around District. I breath in the dusty air and walk towards the direction of the Grizzle. But then I turn and run towards my old home. Just to see my family. I wouldn't talk to them. I would just look through the window or something.

My knees crumble and I cradle myself at the sight of the destroyed and burned house. But it's not the house that makes me cry. It's the graves of my family; all lined up like the Capitol's dominoes.

I can feel Myla tugging on my arm as I sob for my deceased family. "I'm sorry." she says. I push her away with more strength than I should have.

"Leave me alone!"

I pull out my knife and prick my arm again. I let the blood ooze out and then smear it on the floor around me. Tears still slide down my cheeks and I continue to yell at Myla.

"Just go to the Grizzle!! It's that big house on the corner after about 2 blocks!!"

I'm not sure why I blame Myla for this, but I feel that if I don't blame someone, I'll go insane. But who knows? Maybe I've already gone insane. I leave the driveway and go for a walk in the streets.

"I can't let you walk into the middle of the District, cutting yourself up. As if you wouldn't be in enough trouble. Please, come on!"

I listen to her voice as I walked away. I look back at her when she starts following me. That's when I start to run. I sprint. I run about 8 blocks before I run inside the Grizzle and collapse in the middle of the abandoned house.

I sob and I can't accept reality. I pound on the floor and scream. My brothers are dead. My mom. My dad. Even my devil of a step-father. I lost my brother in the Hunger Games. I lost my dad when he killed himself in the mines. Now I lost my family.

When I left District 12, I thought I wasn't going to lose anything else. But I only ended up losing even more. My dignity. I killed a guy. I killed a 19-year old guy. He could have had a family. A life. But I took it away from him.

And I blamed all on Myla. How stupid of me. She wasn't to blame. It was the Capitol. Then I think to myself. I've killed one person. Who's gonna stop me from killing another.

And that's when I pass out.

In my dreams, I see Myla. And everyone else. Alive and well too. My brothers, my mom, my dad, even my damned step-dad. And then there is Myla. Sitting right next to me. We're at my house. Eating dinner and having a good time. My hands are clean and I haven't killed a soul. Then Caden walks in. His neck is ripped open and his hands are still bloody.

"Why Scamp, why?" he pleads. A flash of light blinds me and I wake up to the sound of Myla calling my name. She's right next to me. But this time we're at the Grizzle and it's real.

I rub my forehead and feel the dried tears on my cheeks. I reach for my knife and get it out of my back pocket. I through it across the room; into a dark corner.

I turn to Myla.

"I'm sorry. You didn't deserve that. I was being stupid, but sometimes I just wonder..." My voice is blank and slow as it trails off,"....sometime I just wonder...."I look for the right words,"....what would happen if I lost someone I cared about. And now it's happened. I lost them, Myla. But fortunately, they haven't taken everything from me."

Then I walk away into a room and I don't turn back.

Once I enter the room, I find a mattress there. Its tattered and torn. And it smells too, but I guess you could say I wasn’t expecting the Holiday Inn either. I think about what I said to Myla a few minutes ago.

I lay down the backpack with all my stuff down next to the window. I prop myself on the mattress and lay down on my back. My arms are crossed behind my head and I feel the cold metal barbs pressing against my back.

I hear Myla walk beside the door. I look up and see her flipping the knife I threw out in her hand. "What do you mean?" she asked.

I stare at her, trying to think of what to say. “Don’t you see, Myla?”

“That day I met you don’t you ever wonder why I walked up to you; instead of all those other people…Because you looked different, Myla. Because you looked like someone who wasn’t like everyone else. Someone who didn’t want to be like everyone else. Because that one day—and it feels like one million years ago—I fell in love with the first time, Myla. And that’s what they haven’t taken away from me. You. And I won’t let them take you. I won’t lose you.”

"Umm....You love me?" I feel blood rushing into my face. This was pretty hard. Telling Myla this. I'd never really thought my feelings for her. They were just....there.

"Yeah....Yeah, you could say that." I say with a half-depressed smile. I wouldn't know what to say if she didn't love me back.

We had only spent a month together. But yet again, we had been through a lot. Especially after Caden's death. There wasn't much I could say other than that, so I just waited for her reply. For one that would either change my life or just kick it even harder.
