Damien Newton
Age:
20
Gender: Male
District/Area: District 11
Appearance:
Since he is from District 11 he doesn't look rich and pampered like some of the other districts are. He's pale, not just slightly pale but very pale which is surprising considering he works in District 11. He has jet black hair that's pretty messy, it's rarely ever looking neat except on special occasions. This means his birthday or the reaping in which case it will be perfectly combed to look straight and have highlights in it to make it look well... presentable. His hair isn't curly, it's straight, medium length. However it sticks out from all sides which gives it that messy quality that he's never bothered to fix. He doesn't care about his hair much however he will cut it so it doesn't get too long.
Now onto his face. It's a pretty good face for a 17 year old. Handsome but not exactly the best. His skin is pale. His lips are pink and thin. He has brown eyes that have a sort of calmness and mysteriousness to them. As if he's thinking of a way to seduce you or something. His facial features are pretty similar to his fathers. He is cleanly shaven, no beard or facial hair yet. However he does have hair growing in other places such as his arms. His eyes brows are normal, black and have just the right thickness. All in all his face is pretty normal.
Now onto his actual body. He is 5'11, so he's pretty tall. He gets his tallness from both his parents. He has an average build. Due to always being starved he has very little muscle however he could probably lift up most things. Such as bags of flower, rocks, bags of grain and some normal weapons although he never wants to use such things. He farms so he isn't weak but he doesn't have great strength like the careers. At first glance he doesn't look like much of a threat but due to always being out on the fields farming and carrying things he is actually strong and a good fist fighter however malnutrition holds him back. He also has a lot of scars on his back from being lashed while tied to a pole.
Since he is from a poor district he lacks any sort of rich clothing. In his district he would mostly wear old shirts that have been used before and reused. Sometimes they have tears in them, sometimes they are too big. He doesn't have much of his own stuff which is worrying. He wears boots when he is out on the fields but wears normal shoes when he goes to school. He doesn't complain however, he is lucky he even HAS clothes he can wear for work. When it rains he can only get a coat and pray he doesn't catch a cold.
[/blockquote]Personality:
[/blockquote]History:His personality immediately stands out as being loud and rebellious. He never wants to play by the rules, he always wants to be his own person. Considering where he lives is pretty depressing it is hard to blame him. He always wants to control the conversation, always wants to be in control. Although he has these qualities people still like him. People sit with him, he's always in big groups while in a conversation, he would never notice the guy who is always quiet in the corner because he simply doesn't care. All he cares about is being liked. He doesn't fear anyone except the peacekeepers (who could execute him in a second) and the mayor who simply freaks him out. He always tries to one up people which shows his competitive side.
He has a younger brother. He teases him, makes fun of him and sometimes embarrasses him. He does all sorts of stunts to his brother. Despite this he actually deeply cares for his brother very much. If his brother was picked to go into the hunger games he would volunteer in his place. Despite the stunts he pulls on his brother he will help him out in ways that he can. This ranges from helping him plant something to giving him his spare boots or bailing him out if he ever gets in trouble. He doesn't feel like it's his duty to protect him but he is still his brother. Life is hard in district 11 after all.
Despite his charisma there are a lot of flaws to his personality. Although he knows what to say and when to say it he is actually more prone to crack under pressure or in traumatizing situations. If he was in the games he would turn into one of those tributes who turned on people and kill as many people as he could. Pressure is pretty hard for him to take, near death is not his forte. He isn't soft at all, he is more likely to lose his mind in particularly traumatizing situations. It hasn't been discovered but it would most likely happen in any kind of traumatic situation. This is why he likes the safety of district 11 better than the outside world, the mysterious scary outside world.
He has gotten in trouble and whipped a lot of times because of his thing for causing trouble. He doesn't know why he's like that but he's just like that. Sometimes it might be for being rude to peacekeepers, flipping them the bird or something. This has caused him to be whipped a couple of times, well a lot.
[/blockquote]Codeword: ODAIRConsidering he is from District 11 Damien has had a very normal functional family. A loving father, a loving mother and a loving younger brother. Although they aren't the perfect family the Newton's were really close. As we all know no one in Panem an possible have the perfect family however. Damien was the first born to his mother and father. His mother cherished him to protect him from the horrors of the real world. The world of Panem. The world ruled by the capitol. All she could do was hope and pray that they could feed their family, not many people viewed a child as a blessing in District 11 so her father simply tried to make ends meet. Unfortunately Damien's mother was not in very good working condition so didn't work at the farms, she stayed at home to take care of her son.
Time went on and on. Their family just about managing to keep functional, Damien was happy and just about fed but it wasn't enough. It was never really enough when you thought about it, a four year old needed food to develop and it was hard. But they still managed to keep him alive so that was a start. His father worked on the farms like everyone else, always trying to farm the crops and working their hardest during the harvest. It was a hard life for his father but seeing his son alive kept him going. They were a pretty normal family in District 11 no tragedies or anything, they just went about their business as normal.
However more trouble would come for the Newton's when a second son was born. Now that made more young mouths to feed and it became apparent his dad may have to work harder and longer just to get the food needed. It was a hard time for all of them. Damien got less food and had to share, his mother had to do more housework and his father worked for longer. However like the hard working family they were they prospered and kept their two sons alive. It was satisfying and everyone wondered how they did it with only the father working but they could do it. They kept their family moving and functional.
As Damien got older he began to understand how hard it was. Day after day he watched innocent children get picked at reapings. When he watched the actual Games and saw their gruesome deaths he began to fear reapings and more and more. "I don't want that to happen to me mommy, I don't wanna play that game. It doesn't look fun." That is what he said when he was around 12 and he found out his name would be in the bowl for the first time.. His mother gave him a reassuring look. "It won't happen to you Damien or your brother. The odds are just too low."He acted like he believed it but he didn't. He had to grow up. He wanted to believe her words but he simply couldn't. How many mothers had said that to their sons and daughters? Damien tried to believe her but he simply couldn't. His mother couldn't protect him from everything and he knew that, he wasn't stupid after all.
Like most districts he began to resent the capitol, to resent Panem in general. This is what got him whipped a lot of times, the sheer rudeness he displayed to peace keepers got him whipped, he was simply a boy who didn't want to listen, he didn't want to submit. This lead to the various whipping scars on his back that he will carry with him for the rest of his life. Now all he can do is look forward to the day when he is 19 and out of the reaping bowl.
