Hello, my name is Twig. Okay so maybe that’s not my real name; my real name is Twilight Messer and I am 16 years old and I live in District 3 with my older sister Faith (She’s 29). We had parents at some point; they died in a factory accident when I was 8. I remember their faces- they’re a bit fuzzy now because since I’ve seen a human face; oh sorry, I forgot…I am blind. I wasn’t always blind, my corneas burnt out after an accident in workshop at school; those places aren’t safe you know?


I would say I am a quiet person; I had friends, with exclamation on the had. When you turn blind in District 3, there is nothing more you can do other than pray that you make it past your 18th birthday and no one will want to help you. Even with my sight I am not a very skill full person; I could never wired a plug or fix a broken piece of machinery. Though I am quiet, I do like to talk to people; I have always been a people person, making conversation with who I can- not that anyone wants to talk to me because I am blind.


I stand a little tall for a girl, I am nearly 6 foot. It’s scary how tall I am yet I look fresh faced and young. With jet black hair and pale white skin you could compare me to a doll of sorts; with large round eyes. However if you look closely at my eyes, you’ll see that my green eyes have a milk glaze over them. If you were to lift up my shirt then you would be able to see the silver burns of the accident that took my eye sight.
