NAME -- [ Olesa Eilowyn Victore ]
NICKNAME -- [ Olesa ; Ollie ]
AGE -- [ Sixteen ]
GENDER -- [ Female ]
DISTRICT/AREA -- [ District Ten ]
.// appearanceOlesa is small in comparison to the people around her age. She is only 5"5' tall and 112 pounds, on the verge of being in the underweight category. She's quite tiny, with her small limbs and lean body to prove that. Her muscles weren't bulging or defined unlike most girls in her district, but strong from the days spent helping in her family's ranch. There weren't that much meat clinging to her bones to spare, but enough to separate her from the very thin line that borders around the lucky ones who get to eat and the poor ones who are starving to death, only with morsels to nibble on. But all that Olesa eats all gets used up by the end of the day, and only ever enough to provide her enough energy to complete her daily tasks. Her skin has turned a little olive from all the days herding those animals to where they could eat food and nourish themselves, feeding those chickens and maybe collect their eggs if they have laid some, and riding Luna under the blazing sun. I never liked looking filthy and dirty, and always start and end my day with a shower to fully cleanse my hair and scrub my skin free of all the dust and mud that manage to stick on my skin. It was smooth, too, because of the body oil that Aedara hides inside her room. But I always find it anyway.
Her hair was long, just resting on her chest, and light brown, like the color of chestnuts. She brushes it everyday, making sure it was free of tangles and knots. She doesn't puts in up in a clip or bun whenever she is in class because it never really bothers her. She wasn't one to hunch over her desk; she always walks around and sits with a straight back so that her hair will just sit back and therefore won't be bothersome to her. But on times wherein she needs to put it up and have it away from her face, then Olesa would tie it in a ponytail or braid. She never lets it cover her face, which is square in shape ― a square jaw, which symbolizes a leader, something Olesa definitely is. Her hairline is softened with undeveloped tiny, baby hairs. Her straight, full eyebrows are groomed maybe not to perfection but still with no stray hairs, and frames her large, almond-shaped eyes with thick lashes. It was dark brown, only a tad darker than her hair, and clear with no need of glasses. Having clear vision was important, since glasses are too costly in District Ten. Underlying beneath her eyes are not dark circles (she is getting enough sleep, thank you very much) but eye bags that weren't due to lack of sleep, but genetics. All of the girls ― her mom, Aedara and herself ― has them, and was for their advantage, since it only gave their eyes the illusion of smiling all the time. She has a pert nose, not the most tiniest nor the smallest, but was proportionate and symmetrical. Her cheeks were round and prominent, and had that natural flush from being out in the sun all day. Olesa didn't have the most noticeable cupid's bow, but made it up with her pink, full lips.
She wore simple yet feminine clothes everyday. Having the monetary ability to be able to choose her clothing choices and be able to afford them as well was a privilege she got to enjoy. Olesa can be mostly seen in dresses, or knee-high skirts and flowy blouses that gave the illusion of adding more womanly curves to her body. She hated wearing pants ― it made her look skinner than she actually was, or was too baggy for her taste. Whenever she would ride Luna, Olesa would change into her riding boots that she treasured and had ever since she was fourteen. She was lucky to have feet that weren't so eager to become large and got to keep them for two years and hopefully for more. Her horse, Luna, had snow-white coat and white-blonde mane that she took great care of, almost as much as she cared for herself. She would Luna everyday herself, bringing in the hay, water and horse feeds and maybe bring in some carrots. She made sure that her coat, mane and tail were shiny and free of dirt. Because of the attention she's constantly showering Luna with, Aedara sometimes jokes around with her that maybe Luna really is her sister.
.// personality
Olesa cares deeply for whoever she trusts, and although it only shows fully with Luna, she does care for Aedara, no matter how many silly squabble they get. Her family is her safety net, and she could never imagine her life without them. It wasn't that she was sheltered as she was a child, definitely not. She was even outgoing. But seeing all those poor, homeless orphans that constantly littered the dark alleys of the District was enough for her to realize the importance of her hardworking family and prayed silently to Ripred God that it won't be taken away from her. She doesn't hide her feelings, but she's not one to dramatically emphasize it to a greater degree, either. Because of this, she tends to crinkle her nose with disgust at her, in her own words, overly-dramatic female classmates when they shriek and fan their hands when an attractive guy passes by. Olesa is no hard shell, to be honest, but wouldn't want her emotions to be displayed out in the open.
Emotions aside, let's get down to business to what you can really see
up front. Olesa is one talented girl, and she knows it. She's been in the top five of her class ever since she started her schooling. She doesn't have superior intelligence, but enough around the above average level to make her lesson kind of a breeze for her. She knows how to cook, and maybe not the best of all cooks but with enough experience ever since the age of ten. But her hands weren't only skillful in creating gastronomical masterpieces (she says so herself) out of the most simplest of ingredients, they also were fond of creating sketches that she likes to keep in an old binder of all her drawings since her toddler days. A pen and a blank piece of paper could only go a long way in Olesa's eyes, and her school papers could prove that. She usually finishes an activity or test early, and she will elaborately decorate the sides with drawings of almost anything ― tropical birds, lush plants, towering trees ― they were mostly of natural scenery, because if there's one thing you need to know, it's her love for the outdoors. There's nothing like waking up with the gentle warmth of the sunlight on your face. Olesa would look forward into escaping the limited walls of her home, and be the first one up in her family and head out to Luna. Maybe she'll cook breakfast, but she knows that Mother likes doing that job. Or maybe if it's a rainy day, she'll just curl up in a corner by the window still near to where she can see the world outside and sketch maybe the dreary scene outside.Emotions aside, let's get down to business to what you can really see
But if it's a wonderful day outside, then you best expect Olesa to be riding Luna the whole day. The Victore ranch was large, maybe not the largest, but large and enough for animals to be in (which was their main source of income), a barn, their unassuming farm house and a wide, open space that was cut off by unkept hedges, which are backed up with borders made of barbed wires and wood planks. Not the best there is, but Father could only take the greatest precautions. A few yards away and it ended abruptly with a steep, dangerous cliff. On the other side was the ocean that possibly lead to another world, to a new adventure. But alas, it was guarded by tall, chain-link fences that were electrically-charged twenty-four hours a day. The Capitol wouldn't risk anyone dying when they needed slaves to provide for them. I know that they only do that to prevent us from discovering the world out there. I know that there's one completely different from the slave house of a country of ours.
We are born to be free and we are made to be free. Some say Olesa's a rebel, but all she really wants is to do her own thing. She's stubborn, and she wouldn't be one to follow you around like a lost puppy. Although her academic reputation contradicts so, you'll change your mind once you get to know her. She refuses to take on a leadership role because she believes that they're useless and pointless. Why would you even need a leader? Why don't you do want you want? And because her skills vary from drawing to cooking to horseback riding, she tends to flaunt it most of the time. I'm good at it, so why would I hide it? She's a braggart for most of the time simply because she believes she's good at something, and will be willing to 'challenge' the next person with a similar interest. But this is District Ten, where we all just are practically the same. So why blend in when
.// history
The Victores lived a fairly good life, and thanks to their founders' hard work and therefore established a well-doing ranch that had been their family business and sole dependence for their survival. So far, all their children were obedient and never strayed from the business, and kept it until it grew to what it was now today. Walter and Divina Victore were married with both their parents' blessings and inherited the business, to which they took great care of. They had their first child, a girl they named Aedara. After two years, Olesa was born. They were the typical siblings, always fighting over attention and competing against each other, which was painfully tiring for the parents especially when they were both competitive. But beneath all that, they were still of the same blood and the feeling of hidden protectiveness and caring was inevitable. They may not be the best at showing that to each other, but the sibling bond is deep inside of them.
To be frank, her family is quite normal that it's dull for her. She has a hardworking father, a loving mother, and an elder sisterthat's secretly just always there for her. She attended school just like everyone else, and it actually wasn't quite that difficult to make friends in her case. You could say that she was part of the popular group, considering she's fairly pretty and wasn't shy either. Olesa constantly joined clubs and some little competitions and it didn't take long before they started noticing her.
Olesa was fourteen when she had her first relationship. A very young age, you might like to say, and she would agree. And maybe it wasn't really what you would call as a relationship. It was already an hour after the final bell, and a group of her friends started playing and old game that dated from the Pre-Dark Days called 'spin the bottle'. She was dragged in by her friend, and stayed nevertheless. Now normally you would think District children wouldn't have time for such immature games, considering they've got a lot more stuff to do, like working, but hey, it's only one measly game. After six spins, a bottle stopped and pointed its long neck to a boy and its bottom to Olesa. "Kiss, kiss, kiss, kiss!" Everyone was cheering, but Olesa didn't even blush. She barely know the guy, and sure she might have seen him around, but not to a personal degree. Both of them were pushed out of the circle to hopefully kiss, but they both knew it wasn't happening. They were both alone now, and it was silent until the boy broke the silence, still looking down at his shoes. "Hey," he said. Olesa raised an eyebrow. "Hey to you too. Listen, we're not really going to―" She was cut-off when the boy raised his chin up and finally looked at her in the eye, and said the most unbelievable of all phrases. "I really like you. A lot." Olesa could only widen her eyes in disbelief. Never in her life had she expected this to come a lot sooner than expected. Before she could reply back, the boy said, "Will you go out with me?" Olesa said yes, even though she never reallyloved liked knew him. She may be one heck of a show-off, but breaking hearts wasn't in her agenda either. The 'relationship' only lasted for a month ― it was all too awkward with wordless conversations and blank gestures.
