So many dead people. I don’t like most people anyway, so it’s not like I really care. I’m all manners and pep, but people annoy the living stuffing out of me. They’re so improper and untidy and I just cannot deal with people not being what they should be: proper, clean, well-dressed. My eyes hit Haymitch and for a moment I want to comment on his appearance, but I find I don’t truly mind. This is Haymitch. Haymitch is different. Always has been, despite his hangovers and stage-diving.

The games are lit up and surrounded by prizes to be won, but I grimace at the mention of Haymitch winning me said prizes. They’re creepy. No, that would not do for a lady to have. However, Haymitch pitches Ah-haha, Haypitch… and the tower of bottles tumbles over. Oh yes, attracted.

And then I’m holding Buttercup. I look down at the grumpy cat, smiling a little and petting his head.

“What I always wanted, dear.”

OH. Oh dear, I called him dear. That’s. That’s not. Uh. mANNERS?!

Effie called me dear. Wait, doesn’t she call everyone dear? Duh, Haymitch, don’t over think.

Buttercup makes a low, growling noise and I smirk. “He doesn’t sound too happy.” I can win her something else, if I can find anything non-creepy in this ugly place. It smells over here, too.

The next game I play forces me to shoot balloons with a dart. Piece of cake. As I sit to play, however, I hear something whistle by my ear and feel a sharp pain in my arm. “Ah!” I stand up and look and see a dart lodged into my skin. What the--

And then suddenly there’s a storm of them, flying through the air in every direction. “Get down!” I instantly grab Effie and pull her down with me to protect her.
