Zuko was in a bad mood. Not an uncommon occurrence for the surly Appa, but unfortunately for him, there seemed to be no decent prey around. He would have quite liked to take his frustrations out upon the first unsuspecting thing to stumble upon him, but alas...

There! One of the skinny, hairless things that had been scrabbling over the land for the past few days was approaching, silver claw unsheathed. Well, excellent. To attack it and not have it fight back would be a fight without honor. Lowering his great head, Zuko swooped out of the air and charged.

The thing lashed out with its claw, digging a deep furrow into his flesh. Bellowing with rage, Zuko let his wings coast him down to the ground and snorted, pawing at the ground and staring down his adversary. How dare this tiny thing wound him, a prince among the mighty Appa? Letting out a loud, predatory snarl, he charged forward, no longer interested in the fight. No, now Zuko was going directly for the kill.
