Appearance
Orion is a very young and innocent child who should be living a fun exciting life, right? Wrong, instead he is only twelve and already works as a lower factory worker since his family needs the income. Most children around his age should look lively and happy, yet this is not the case for him. His small brown eyes always seem to be sullen and it's rare to see a smile creep onto his face. Even though his long life as a factory worker has just begun he already has several scars to show for it. One small scar runs horizontal from his nose to just before hitting the lower part of his right eye. His second scar is found on the back of his neck. It is the shape of a small crescent moon and hardly notable since most of the time it is underneath his hair. Speaking of his hair it is a long dirty blond color and it is rather thick which is helpful when it is cold in his district.Orion isn't necessarily small, however, he isn't huge either. He stands approximately five foot five or at least that's what they think. He is also about 113 pounds most of the weight coming from his muscles. He isn't ripped to say but he has developed quite notable muscles due to the fact he enjoys exercising since it is like his personal escape from the real world. His skin is a typical fair coloration when it isn't covered in smudge from the factories. His clothes follow a very similar guidelines he is always wearing a long sleeved grey shirt, black shorts, and tennis shoes probably since they are the only clothes his family can afford for him. One last thing to know about him is he is always wearing a silver medallion on a silver necklace, what's inside no one really knows since he won't tell anyone.
Personality
Orion's personality is a very different one from most kids of his age. Most kids are often happy and playful while Orion is often very sullen and shy. His shyness is so extreme that it takes a very long time to finally get him to open his mouth to say hi to you. He also typically avoids all the other kids in the district for reasons they can't really understand but if they were to guess they would say his shyness. However, it is not his shyness that turns him away from people but instead his deep unrest about trusting people. Although if you are able to get past his shy nature you would discover a very bright and curious boy. Ever since he was younger he has always been intrigued with all types of technology and being born in district three was a dream come true for him. He would spend hours watching factory workers build various machines through the factory windows and he would sketch the pictures of the machines in his journal. Like most kids in his district he is very smart and well educated, in fact he is so bright he has become exempted from having to go to school for the most part. All he has to do it take a test once a year to verify he is still on the learning curve.
Blossoming from his intense curiosity and exponential intellect comes his dream of becoming an inventor. He wishes to create types of machines like Panem has never seen before. He is a very ambitious child, which is why he dreams of having his name on billboards and owning multitudes of factories throughout the nation. He also knows if he is ever able to accomplish these goals he could end his family's severe poverty once and for all. Just like a song once said: whenever he closes his eyes he can see his name in shining lights.
History
Codeword:oDair Orion was born into a life of severe poverty and it is all he has ever known. Both his mother, Renee, and his father, Jupiter, were born and raised in poverty and hence they both worked as factory workers, and the lowest of the factory workers at that. They have always tried to give Orion and his siblings the best lives they could, however, the only thing in abundance in this family is a strong bond of love. Orion is the youngest of four in his family. He has two older brothers and one slightly older sister, who is by far his best friend in the world. Ever since they were younger Orion and his sister have been thick as thieves since they have both been very shy. They are so close that one day when he was six and she was seven she spent the little money she had on buying him an old wore down leather journal with all blank pages. Orion loved the gift with all his heart and still uses the journal today since he always carries it with him.
Even though life was rough life was manageable for Orion since he had such a loving family, however, when he was eight years old the world just became a little too unbearable. His mother who had always cared very deeply for Orion since he was the baby of the family died from a disease that killed her within three days. Orion was devastated and his father knew that so he did something for Orion that was shocking. He took all the money he had saved and went to a jeweler where he bought a silver medallion necklace in which he put a picture of Renee in it. Then on the day of Orion's ninth birthday while tucking him into his small bed he gave him the medallion and Orion wept tears of joy until he fell asleep from exhaustion. Ever since that day he always wears the medallion so his mother can always be with him.
Throughout his life Orion has developed exactly three hobbies: inventing, sketching, and exercising. His hobbies of inventing and sketching sort of go hand in hand since all he sketches are pictures of machines he has seen from watching and building certain machines. Also he sketches his own designs for types of machines and their prototypes. His inventing, however, is by far his favorite hobby of all. He gathers parts he finds anywhere from on the streets to dumpsters, and even on occasion he will steal several parts from the factory he works at and so far no one has caught him. His favorite invention is his automatic cleaner, you simply slip a switch on a remote and a small little bug looking robot goes around dusting and cleaning the entire house. However, he has also had many inventing failures one being an automatic stamping machine which shot a gear at Orion giving him the small scar on his face. Lastly, the reason he exercises is that it makes him feel like he isn't in the world he actually is and that everything is fine in the world. His favorite exercise is running, he is one of the fastest kids in the district due to the fact he runs so often since he always does it when he is upset.
Last of all, is how the Hunger Games have affected his life. So far luckily he hasn't had anyone close to him reaped so it hasn't directly harmed him. However, he knows that if someday he were to get reaped he would be going to that arena since he doesn't have anyone who would volunteer for him. Not even his brothers since they are both very self concerned. So as for now Orion stays nervous and uneasy terrified that one day it could be his name that is drawn from the glass ball for the boys of District three.
