He never found sleep as an easy thing to achieve, constantly studying to keep his grades up while still managing to practice his swimming everyday. Swimming often gave him a lean yet slightly built stature. Reaching only 5'6" (168 cm) and weighing in at 126 lbs (57 kg,) Nitori had a BMI of 20.3 and with a large part of that consisting of muscle, he had virtually no fat on him. Sometimes, though, he could be seen working out unnecessarily in hopes of getting better at what he loved. This didn't phase his mother, though, for he had always been persistent when he vied for things. After all, when he thought that his father had been cheating on his mother, he did everything in his power to prove it.
He had been the same way his entire life. Bubbly yet fierce and lax yet determined. His goal was to be nothing yet everything and he would, like everyone expected, persist until he achieved just that. Of course, with the supporters came the disposers.

The thing was, was that he was perfectly fine with all of that. They would never know the feeling of trying so hard for something, having it within your grasp, then losing it. They would never experience regaining lost ground until you make your goal, until you run that race, until you win that battle. Their loss, he would think to himself. It was too late to bring him down because he was already a thousand feet high in the air.
These methods had gotten him what he wanted. Truth. Talent. Respect. Even with this, though, he knew that he would need more to prove to his mother what dishonours his father had put upon her. He would need patience and courage and so much more than what one his age could muster. He knew he could do it, though. He knew he couldn't let his mother suffer. He plotted for months until eventually, he couldn't keep in his rage anymore.
After his studying the next day, long after his mother had fallen asleep but shortly before his father had left, he hid himself in the bushes just outside his house. What could go wrong if he was doing this for the greater good? Not even twenty minutes passed before the soft padding of work boots found Nitori's ears. A small recording device he had stolen from his school rested in his hand as he followed his elder in the unknown. It was on and he was sure that it could pick up his hushed breathing, even though his father could not.
Meage's heart was beating quickly against his chest, not unlike the relentless waves of the sea. He knew those very well, didn't he? After all, they were what he lived for. The only thing that was keeping him from turning back now was the thought of his mother, so loving yet so oblivious. He silently prayed to no God in particular, for he believed in no God at all, that this went well. If he were to get caught, it would be the end of everything he loved.
After some time, thirty minutes, perhaps, they reached a stop. He need not stay long if he could help it and so he was eager to hide behind a thick tree nearby.

He turned and ran, ran away from his troubles and back to the arms of his mother. He would tell her again and again, begging her to understand the audio and leave him at once. But she had one response every time.
