Write this Down {Marr} Blitz

There was at least a dozen other people in the immediate area, all of whom Carver had seen at one time or another. Nothing special, though there was an oddity that stood out to him. Most careers or peacekeeper hopefuls preferred the sword, or the glaive, bladed weapons created for the sole purpose of causing as much damage as possible. Personally, Carver preferred honing his body as it was the first and best weapon that he had been gifted with. That mindset caused a certain girl to stand out. A short career practicing with a quarterstaff. Blunt weapons were fairly low on the scale of popularity, judging from their lack of usage in the arena, so why was she bothering to use one? It made her unique, and that meant it would be prudent for him to keep an eye on her. Leaving his perch behind, Carver sauntered over to the mat area where the girl was a stood a few feet away with his arms crossed, waiting for her to take note of his presence.

Carver supposed that if he were a lesser man, he would have flinched at the staff entering his personal space. Or been affronted by it. Instead, he gave it a bored looking glance and then focused on the girl holding it. Brunette. Maybe a year or two younger than him. Lean muscles. Perhaps a runner? He stared blankly at her for a a minute, filing away her imaginary stats in his head for later. "No." he stated flatly. "I am attempting to determine why you insist on practicing with an outdated weapon." She was actually adept with it, but he wasn't going to tell her that. Guilty until proven innocent was one of the creeds he lived by. Unique people were generally the worst. He raised a critical eyebrow while he waited for a response. 

"You are practicing in public. That makes it my business and the business of anyone else who sees you. But I am hardly afraid of that twig. And I will do no such thing." he added when she told him to leave. Even if she wasn't a criminal, he decided that he was going to mess with her. It would provide him with a pleasant distraction if nothing else. She hadn't moved the staff away from him, which meant she had no wish to back down from the situation they were now in. It was foolish. A stick versus a boxer with a silver medal? Foolish. But he saw no reason to challenge her to a fight just yet. "Move the twig or I will move it for you."

Carver bristled at her jab, knowing that she was intentionally escalating the situation. Captain obvious? What the hell was that supposed to mean? And insulting his intelligence, or at least attempting to? This girl was asking for it. Batting the quarterstaff away, he sauntered over to the blades and picked up a two headed axe; blunted of course since they were just training weapons, but still capable of packing a mean wallop."It's still a twig. One which I will be using as firewood soon enough." Making his way to a practice mat, Carver made a beckoning motion with his free hand. If she wanted a scrap, he'd give her one, and make her regret it on top of that."And my name is Carver. Not Captain."
