I want to scream with joy when the fire flickers in front of me. But fire is to me like water's to a fish, or the air to a bird, or earth to a plant. Completely natural. A right that no one can take. But fire's like any type of life. It breathes. It craves oxygen as much as I, maybe more, and it grows like a child, inch by inch, bigger and bigger. Into a size deserving of it's power. And I wield its power. I'm a firestarter

My parents knew there was something wrong with me from when I started crawling. I was always crawling near fire. Not away from the fire, but always towards. When they moved me away, I crawled all the way back to the fire. I was addicted to fire from a rather young age, which considering the danger of fire, was rather bad if I got closer still. So much, they got a massive fireguard to stop me. Spoilsports.

Although considering my early fascination for fire, they did name me after fire. Yep, apparently, Shula means fire, Thinking though, that may have been relating to my hair, but hey, I have lived up to my name. My parents called me a pyromaniac the other day, and I agreed almost instantly. It's completely what I am; crazy about fire.

The fire in front of me crackles with glee, and it knows that I control it, that I created it, and that I'm the master of it. The ground around steams, as the fire grows wider and wider, the heat higher and higher, and then... no more. And the winds blow free, and all the flames go out, with smoke billowing out. Nature spoils my fun all the time.

I have to admit, in the first couple of months after my parents got me diagnosed with pyromania, all ways and means of fire were taken away from me. I must have been... what, 10? I almost lose complete control when I got hold of the matches, It was complete luck that the heavens opened then, because I was getting too close, addicted to the heat, to the flickering light. Burns all the way up my arms. front of my legs. On my face. My hair turned black from fire color. Fire damaged me, but I was the zealot, a believer of fire. I was truly the child of fire, an apprentice of the heat.

According to my parents, deciding to get me diagnosed was the hardest decision of their lives. I was their only child, and if the medics tried to take me away from them... it would have been all over for them. And they decided to take me any way to a small building near the edge of the district. The woman there was without a single doubt to what I had. Before I was diagnosed, I was fairly normal, not annoying, just with an affinity to fire, I was sharp, like the end of a flame. I was quick, like the growing of a fire. I was hot under the collar, like the inside of a fire. But after getting diagnosed, just knowing the name made me uneasy, needing to release it. And my release was fire. A big burning lethal fire.

The battle to control the fire came when my parents came home that same day. I was sat there, rocking by the smoldering logs, soaked through with the rain that saved my life. But the rain that murdered my master, my god. I got pneumonia that day, and my hatred of rain and water came from, breaking, killing my leader, and wounding me. It was war.

Knowing that I had pyromania made no difference to my parents. I was punished like I should of, playing with fire. Again, all of the fire making equipment was made unreachable to my ten year old self. And that made a whole new me come out. I was unreachable in my own little world. All was inside was me, and my only friend. The flames.

After diagnosis, and gaining the control I need over the cravings of heat and flames, life became more settled. It never leaves my brain when I go outside. I have lost control before, and luckily no one was injured. Apart from me of course when my parents found out, but not in the fire. Which is good. My actual personality has only really changed recently, Fiery, and bitter and argumentative. Dry humor, and so on.

I don't really know any different to being like this. That's why I don't care being 'addicted to fire' or 'fire mad'. It's my life, as my parents say. They wouldn't change me for the world either. Cos I'm their daughter and they're my parents. And I love them. More then fire, more than anything.

My tears roll down my face, on to the ground. Another element kills my master. And I can't beat elements. I follow an element, I control the element. Earth has yet to beat me, but one day it will, and that too will bow to fire soon.

How does she feel about her illness? How was she diagnosed? When? Where? There's not much information.
