A tongue marked. Slit. Scarred.
I cut my tongue on the words that were never spoken. Blaming myself for the disappearance and loneliness Stella'd faced while she remained in this world. However, it was a world neither of us had lived in together. Facing a paradise made from desires that will never be fulfilled, Stella always had it easier in her mind. For the harsh reality isn't something that touched her precious body while she lived among the living. Trapped in a world that was never her own, she locked herself in a room that wouldn't allow her escape. A room that guarded the kingdom she ruled in the walls of her own imagination, she stayed in there twenty-four hours a day and seven days a week. A troubled girl with a twisted mind on the reality that pushed her over the edge, I felt pity for her. She was my sister, and forever will she be in heart and in spirit.

"Our paths may change as life goes on,

Stella."

It'd been five- six- seven-
Seven years had passed when the door was unlocked, and I stood there helpless. Time had come and gone and brushed right passed us, and I felt her presence there. But I always wondered if she even noticed ours. A life lived in a world where the one's you loved the most went through trouble after trouble and all you could depend on was each other. His body hit the ground, seizing up while our mother rushed and scrambled and did what she thought was best, whatever she was capable of. And there she was, living in a fantasy world, starring straight into his eyes as he pleaded and begged and no one knew what she was thinking. She was as stoic as stone and her green eyes, that resembled mind, just starred with a face that couldn't be broken. She watched him die and she watched his struggle and seize, but not once did she pay mind to me, or any of us. You could tell Stella never acknowledged us, isolating herself in the room behind a locked door and a missing knob she removed herself. It was always blamed on our father, though. For it was he who was the reason she'd fallen into a deep depression, one that she couldn't drag herself out of to come face clean facts with the reality and the world around us.

"Stella! Stella! I've got something to show you!"

A door slammed shut in my face as a little girl. All I wanted to do was be apart of her world. I was ignorant to think that the neglection was anything other than her way of coping. It'd dawned on me that I was hated and for all the right reasons. I bothered her plenty, I screamed and yelled at her when she ignored me, I threw fits when I wanted to play and she never responded. But maybe it was always to be better off that way? At least that's how I see it fits in a mind like mine, one that lives in the real world, unlike Stella. I see the world for how it is and now how it should be, but I must admit there are times I slip into a trance. However, unlike Stella, I know not to fall, for it is foolish, and to end up like her would be a curse on my soul. Doomed for the rest of my eternity, to a life to live that would never be mine again. And perhaps that was her fatal flaw, and perhaps my fatal flaw is that I took it all too harshly. All I ever wanted to do was mean something.

It'd been five- six- seven-
Seven years that the courageous decision was made. After our father's death, our mother called up the only other person that she'd acknowledge. And I was always happy for the decision made, even if it meant I could see her less. How could it be possible to see her less when I didn't see her at all? Oh, but it was her presence that was comforting. For being close to your own sister is a luxury in this world, but it was out of my reach. Her beautiful smile gleamed on her face as our great aunt walked through the door, for she was lonely for far too long. And a farewell was too late to leave my lips and she never even looked at us as she the door shut behind her and I was left with guilt on my mind and an aching in my heart. A heart that was too full to carry anything else, sore from the burden of the years and it was then that it all came undone. The tears created trails to burn into my delicate, tan skin of my cheekbones, dripping dew in my long, light brown hair. Trails that would never disappear from existence, leaving memories that are too hard to hold onto. But there's no other choice, for they're the only memories I have of her now. Barring our striking resemblance for one another, I always viewed Stella as the prettier version, though. For the marks that dotted our skin in dark beauty-marked circles always suited her face better than mine, and I always hated them. But they brought out the beauty in her.

Eternity- Days- Hours- Minutes- Seconds-
It'd only taken seconds for people to turn in my direction from the screen. Their eyes full of lost hope and sorrow and sympathy. However, no one was capable of uttering a word, not even a prayer on her soul. On a soul that only existed in her world, because surely she never lived a life here. I watched the big screen as the duo fought to the death with copies of themselves, and surely she could've won. She was a fighter and the fire from deep within sparked into existence, devouring every darkness in it's path of light. It all ended too quickly, though. With the swift stab of a knife aimed for the wrong girl who'd done no harm to her ally. An ally whose knife cut deeper than ever, into a girl who hadn't even lived. A girl who was dead since birth. A girl who meant the world to me, only for the same to not be returned. A girl who was a fighter. My sister. She'd managed to take the life of a girl whose heart never beat in the first place. And it wasn't until she realized, that the storm that raged inside shifted into something new. For I watched as she carried Stella's dying body out of the fight, risking a deep gash across her neck. And while the same girl managed to kill my sister, I couldn't thank her enough for what she's done for her. For Stella finally seemed genuinely happy. With Kiena, Sue, Simon and Rowan.

And I couldn't thank them enough for showing her a world she'd never once lived in. For her time with them, she finally felt alive the most.
