. . . .
O L I V I A
”Ha my parents cool…no”
Alfan chuckles as he speaks, his shoulders shaking from the movement. She expected him to say more, expand on what he meant by just no, but he doesn't, moving onto her next question with swift precision. It disappointed her because she wanted to know more about them, about him. She wanted to know what they were like, if they were similar to him, or if he was the polar opposite but she knew that she shouldn't press him, grilling him for details. So instead of cutting him off she just looks away slightly, her eyes trailing along the ground as they walked, her fingers still locked tightly with his.
”I have two sisters and a brother.”
Lucky for him his next words ditracts her and she forgets about her dissapointment, a new burst of excitment lighting a fire of passion deep within her. There was so much that she didnt know about this boy, but yet she could not find it in herself to deny the fact that she liked him. She didnt say love, because she didnt know if she loved him...She didnt know what love was, never having experienced it for herself before. And she wandered if what she did feel for Alfan was love, but she knew she would not be able to say the words to him, not if she didnt mean it. She wanted to know, more than anything, what it felt like to love. In books she had read when she was younger love had meant that every moment the princess was with her prince was a moment that she would never forget- that every touch was like electricity burning through your skin, setting it on fire...
Could someone really feel all that when they were with the person they loved?
Could someone really get lost in another eyes, forget about everything around them? Forget about how cruel, how harsh, how disgusting this world was?
Was that what love was?
Or was that just fixation? Infatuation of the idea of someone, of being with someone?
A frown slips onto her forehead, her lips pursing slightly as she glanced over at Alfan. She remembers the way that he had kissed her, the way his lips had been so gentle, so careful against her own. She remembers the way his hands had seared into her skin, setting her on fire, shielding her from the cold. She remembers the way her body had responded. She didnt want to forget what it felt like to be wrapped in his arms, she didnt want to forget the way he had felt against her... Maybe, just maybe she did love him. Maybe the way she felt, all the emotions that swirled within her as she looked at him (Excitement, happiness, nervousness) Maybe all of that were just clues to help her solve the mystery.
”And we’re not that far away from it.”
He leads us around a corner. Houses lined the streets like soldiers. It was different to the area she lived in, where houses were more like mansions, with properties that spread wide around them, with gardens so fancy that they were just another symbol to prove just how rich, just how powerful the owners really were. At home everything was a completion, but here the houses looked very similar, with small gardens lining the streets, hugging the front doors. Everything seemed so much smaller, so much cosier and Oli found her lips pulling back into a smile as she stepped out of line, her arm outstretched behind her, clinging to Alfans as she marched them down the street. Warm lights flickered on and off in windows, winking down at her, the wind whispering goodnight.
"Its so peaceful out here," She almost sighs as she comes to a stop, her eyes turning up to study the endless stars above. She watched as they winked down at her, dancing lights swayed by the small clouds that drifted back and forth and she found herself not wanting to go inside yet. She found herself wanting to watch the sky, study the stars and the moon with Alfans by her side, she wanted to watch the light dance over his pale skin, she wanted to see it shine in his lively eyes. She didn't want the night to end just yet.
"Lets no go yet," She turns to face him eagerly, her free hand reaching out to grab his, so that both of their hands were interlocked between them, her fingers lacing themselves between his own. "lets find a nice place- a park or something, and just lie there. Lets just watch the stars and the moon until our eyes grow tired."
