Appearance:
Aster is tall, approximately 5'11, and slim (about 1550 Lb), but still well muscled and strong from years of odd labor (although he doesnt look it, and he's slightly malnourished. His spine and ribs can sometimes be seen when he's shirtless) His hair is an undecided color between brown and black, but in the light you can see a touch of grey (from stress, and working odd jobs to keep his family fed without entering their names). Aster's face is on the feminine side, with a thin nose that has a low arch, high cheekbones, and lips that are not thin or thick. His eyes are blue-grey, with bags underneath that both bring them out, and make him look slightly hallow. He's not handsom, so much as pretty. (he gets ridiculed by the boys at school for being girly and pretty, but he doesnt mind.)
Aster prefers to wear comfortable clothes, and being poor is usually seen in worn out hand me downs from his father (such as coveralls and dark jeans). He only has one pair of shoes, which are thick mining boots, and though hes had them for years they barely have any damage. His sister is known to stick flowers in his hair, and he lets her because she means the world to him. (this also causes ridicule from the boys at school).
He's quick and nimble, but a little clumsy because hes not quite used to being so tall (he hit a growth spurt at 14. This sometimes causes pain in his joints and tiredness but he tries to work through)
Although he has many scars, the most obvious one is across his right arm. Its a dark brand mark gotten by a peacekeaper who caught him trying to steal medicine for his sister. Its shaped like a T for theif. (but it was the first and last time he ever got caught stealing anything.)
Personality:
He's quiet and reserved, and usually looked over, although hes a quick thinker and a good talker. He has a way with words thats gotten him out of trouble, and also gotten him things he didnt deserve (he talked a teacher out of sending a peacekeaper after two boys who were fighting. He also talked a girl into giving him a box of chocolate once, although later she would deny it and say something vague about how she must have just eaten it and forgotten)
Sometimes he boarders on kleptomania, and has strong urged to steal things he knows he doesnt need or need to steal. He rarely gives in, but did once steal a watch from a teacher. (he later threw it over the fence in a panic)
He loves his sister and father, although his father works so often he seems to hardly exist.
At school his friend are mostly girls, although he does have a male friend (who is ridiculed for being asters friend). He doesnt girls gossiping and giggling, and usually learns interesting things about the boys at school. He taunts his bullies with some of this information, but hes actually good at keeping a secret. His closest friend is a girl named Samantha, who despises being nicknamed Sam.
He's not in the top or bottom of his classes (samanthas at the top), but he's good at math. He stays out of drama but likes hearing about it afterward.
He's rarely angry or sad. Thats what he tells himself, but he lets it built up. When he lets it go finally, it usually ends up in a destructive behavior (although whether its destructive to him or someone/ something else is often not clear).
New edit: He recently discovered an interest in making medicines out of herbs, and just mixing herbs on general. He tests them on himself though, and has gotten sick from it before.

Born to Mother Lilin Bradly (deceased: former teacher) and Father Gust Payten (a mine worker). His mother was killed during the labor of her third child (His name would have been Clover). Aster was 8 at the time. His living sister is named Willow Payten, and is 6 years younger than Aster. His lives in almost the poorest part of district 12.
Aster only has 4 tickets in the drawing alltogether, because his mothers final wish had been that her children never participate in the Humger Games, and forbid them from entering their names. But there had been some points (mostly during the winter) that food had been so scarce that he was afraid that his sister might starve. He refuses to ever allow her to enter her name, when she gets old enough.
He often works odd jobs to earn a meager income, enough to feed and clothe his sister when his father doesn't have enough. He's resorted to stealing more often than putting his name in, and is exeptionally good at it. Besides menial labor (lifting and such) its his only real talent. He avoids pickpocketing mostly, but easily steals from counters and shelves easily (even if hes being watched)
