[Day 1] Sabre Round 1: Trumton vs. Chastmen

The stands are loud with cheers as Jonny Trumton takes his stand. Then again, why shouldn't they be?  They are about to witness a master of his art, the best of his kind. He stands, clad in a uniform that would put others to shame,  adorned with an assortment of his district's jewels, namely rubies, sapphires and white diamonds. 

Jonny readies himself, awaiting the start of the match. "This fool in front of me,"  he thinks,  "And I mean no offense, I'm sure he's a good guy, but he's a fool for signing up to face me. You know, I've been told by many people that I'm the best sabre fencer there is. This guy doesn't scare me."

He looks his opponent dead in the eyes, though the two opponents' respective face masks make doing so difficult. The official gives the signal to begin and Jonny let's flashes a smile, obscured by the mask yet again, and quips a quick,  "Just try to keep up," before lunging forward with his arm extended.

As expected, Jonny's blade neatly lands on his opponent's garb. The crowd erupts in cheers, and Jonny soaks it in, feeling proud of himself for showing off his district's might. It soon becomes clear that his opponent is younger than he is, which causes Jonny to grin. "This is going to be easier than I thought," he thinks to himself.

The two participants take their spots again, and again engage one another. The two meet, and although the opponent tries to score a point, Jonny parries and successfully returns the favor. "Ha," he thinks, "This kid will be no match against me. He doesn't know who he's dealing with."

When taking their spots for round 3, the kid speaks, as if he'd read Jonny's mind, "That means nothing. Here right now you are no one, I am no one. Anything can happen." How? How could he have timed his response so perfectly? The icily-spoken words throw Jonny off his game for just a second, but that's enough for his opponent to land one touch.

It's a careless error on Jonny's part, but a point against him nonetheless. He won't let it happen it happen again. "Anything can happen. But my victory is the only thing that will," Jonny confidently snaps back as the referee gives him the go. "En garde!"

As the bout continued, Jonny's opponent continued to gain strength, seemingly becoming more accurate with every passing round. Jonny on the other hand was furiously trying to regain his composure, not that he would let it show. The boy he was facing had scored another 3 points against him. Against him, the greatest District 1 had to offer.

All his life people had been telling him he was the best, that he was destined for greatness, and here this, this child, stood, threatening to take it all away from him within a matter of minutes. Jonny couldn't, wouldn't have it. 

The boy's words were getting to him, there was no longer any doubt. But Jonny had to keep up appearances, so he merely smiled back and smirked yet again, remarking, "Trust me, I learned that long ago. There's nothing a child like you can teach me. But here's a lesson in return. Don't underestimate District 1. And never underestimate a Trumton."

With that, Jonny leapt right back into the fray, eager to take the lead once more.

Jonny's opponent starts to let up on his attacks, and Jonny sees the opportunity to go on the offensive, scoring point after point after point. He no longer thinks that this bout will be easy, but nevertheless, his confident stance doesn't suffer even a bit. 

Clearly, the kid thinks trying to insult Jonny will throw him off of his game, spitting out questions fashioned to cause doubt. The kid clearly can't rely on his own skills to best the jewel of District 1, so he has to stoop to such low methods. Sad!

Very well, though. Two can play at that game. "Stories are for children, though if I did tell stories, I'm sure they'd be the best stories. My stories would bring genuine laughter and genuine tears to those who heard them." He stops for just a second as he adjusts his stance for the next bout, then makes on final remark before lunging. "Does someone's mommy need me to teach her how to tell a good bedtime story for when she tucks her little baby into bed?"

Jonny couldn't believe it. Something he'd said must have triggered a reaction inside this fool in front of him, because suddenly, he was attacking Jonny directly. He had to get his head back in the game and start to retaliate. What would his father think if he were here? 

Jonny had to make not to let his family down, nor his District. The boy in front of him was trying to get under his skin, calling out, "Yeah and its your's, perhaps the story of where her precious baby boy grows up. Oh wait, I suppose she can't considering it hasn't happened yet."

What?! The nerve! The insolence! This - this fetus thought he could talk to Jonny, a Trumton like that?! Not on his watch. "The only baby here is standing right in front of me," he said through gritted teeth, "And it's time for me to to put him back in his crib. Just try not to wet yourself before that happens, little boy."

"And," he yelled as he lunged, "The next time you insult a Trumton, I won't respond so kindly."

"A Trumton? I'm so scared, considering I and no one else in all of Panem has even heard of your family. Why don't you start putting weight behind your family's name when there is actual weight there."
The words filled Jonny's ears, and they confused him for just a second, long enough for his opponent to strike him and score a point.

The boy facing Jonny didn't seem to understand the power behind the Trumton name, and suddenly, Jonny became aware as to why. The boy was from a different district, and while Jonny's father wielded considerable influence at home and in the Capitol, those who did not reside in one of those two areas would be unlikely to have heard of them until now.

Never mind. Better late than never. It was time to make sure that nobody would leave the Olympics without knowing the Trumton name. "Who died and made you speaker for all of Panem? The Trumton name is renowned in District One, and we are the Capitol's favorites. I'll have you know we make the best of accessories, and, better yet, the fanciest of jewelled daggers. The Trumton name may not have reached the rock you live under just yet, but know this. Soon, all of Panem will respect it! And you will just be a forgotten footnote in our story. Sad!"

With that, Jonny lunged forward, ready to land a finishing blow.
