[Day 1] Sabre Round 1: Sellers vs. Andralian

Stepping on the train to District Four is probably Bronn’s first highlight of the Olympic Games. He’d always thought that if he was ever to board the train, it’d be to step into the arena, the Olympic Games seem a better alternative. With these games, he is able to return home with his life and hopefully a medal to wear around his neck. It’d likely be the most expensive thing he’ll ever own but at least he’ll be able to show it off, especially to Tyrion. He’s not just a pile of meat that is happy to get paid for Tyrion’s defence, he does obtain some self-pride also.

Bronn had been told that entertainment in District Four is rather greater than in Two and well the games gave him to opportunity to test this theory. After all, the beaches probably brought a lot of people together and having hanky-panky in the sand with a stranger seemed more exciting than the available areas back home. So in this theory, Bronn only entered one event so that he could spend the remainder of the games getting a taste for District Four life. There was no Tyrion to babysit so he indulged in the free time that he had to offer.

Entering the sabre competition seemed the safest bet, he had thought of entering the boxing or wrestling although with his new training, he had perfected his swordsmanship quite greatly.

Glancing around at the crowd, the audience is larger than what used to watch him in the illegal fights back home but the cheering helped him succeed in the fights and a greater crowd will help with his performance...hopefully.

Standing in a safe stance, he faces his competitor, the sabre stretched before him. Flashing them a smile, he’d lunge forwards, making sure the pointy end sticks to them.

Reminiscing his days in the illegal fighting ring of District Two, occasionally Bronn acknowledges the audience. Something about their cheers really pushes him forwards, even if they may well be cheering for his component. It’d be rather embarrassing for Bronn if he were to be knocked out in the first stage, he bets Tyrion would likely question his skill and if he is actually suited for the role of his shield although right now Bronn is running in fun mode. Everything that he is experiencing right now is new to him, his crowd aren’t old men throwing money and puffing on cigarettes. He’s wearing a rather elaborate uniform compared to the torn trousers he was made to wear in the bare knuckle fights.

Starting off the round with a slightly below moderate attack, Bronn is quick to learn from it and pushes himself to perform something greater, which is after he is unable to block the pounce from his competitor. Come on Bronn. Separate cheers call in his mind as his conscious acts as a trainer, trying to push his performance forwards. Come on Bronn. The voice in his head puts him on his toes as a smirk crawls across his face.

A sudden urge of energy makes him pounce forwards as he hopes for the best.

The thought of his mini adventure after the event was obviously a great way to push Bronn forwards as he inflicts a reasonable hit but just as the pattern of the fight, his competitor returns his serving. It’s all good for Bronn to hit his target with the sabre, he really needs to try and stop them from hitting him. Silence fills the crowd as the suspense reaches them, Bronn imagines them teetering on the edge of their seats, the winner really being unknown by the scores on the board. It’s all to play for now and as long as he can block the points and add to his own, there is still hope for him.

But Bronn isn’t a sore loser, he isn’t exactly disappointed with his performance so far, he would be if he was trailing by a far margin but obviously District One produce greater specimens then in Two. Well that will be his excuse to Tyrion when he returns home without a medal, he’ll need all the excuses to prove he is still the value for money that Tyrion pays.
