Today's been weird. Just in general - I've felt like some new fuckin person and like nothing about me is different. Like there's someone or something inside of your bones that just picked you up, spun you around in a circle and threw you into a whole new direction of life. But what's worse? Feeling different than normal or finding out you're going to be forced to sleep with your future husband (whom you don't really know in the first place)? Go ahead, I'm waiting.

Exactly. It's fucking insane how my parents think they can just do anything to me and I'll just follow along with it - and especially with something like this. And for a while I think we both thought that. We were laying in that bed together for what seems like hours, and as far apart from each other as we could be on the bed. I let out a huff - a mixture of a laugh and a sigh. It was annoying.

But I wasn't just going to lay here and do nothing.

"So, I assume we won't be getting much sleep for a while," I started off with a small chuckle. "So, talking to each other is probably the better option." I turned on my side to look at him, but then thought that looked a bit too close already, [ fuck that ], and went onto my back again. "So go ahead, tell me about yourself."

The stories people hold.

I've never thought myself as being one who is worthy enough to share any, because none of them are. I myself am not worthy of anything.

I don't have any to share for eyes to widen at, for people to lean in closer to me because the world unfolding in their heads from only another person's spoken experiences is that interesting to them. Memories painting skies, whipping up clouds, drawing the sun, moon, and stars; memories sprouting towers of wood, grass blades, flowers; crafting buildings, commodities, and luxuries--

"So, I assume we won't be getting much sleep for a while," he chuckles.

And his voice, his rumbling voice which threatens to knock down the wall I've set out to keeping built up high, it spins me back into reality.

It reminds me how weird I've been feeling, as if just being forced to spend time with this male is somehow changing the gearwork my already sputtering machine of a soul operates under. I don't think I've really changed in actuality, but the sensation I did constantly sparks and clicks within me.

"So, talking to each other is probably the better option."

He speaks some more, and I remember we're once again being sentenced to only each other's company at my house. Mom and dad locked the door to their bedroom, (of course they did,) so we have to share mine.

"So go ahead, tell me about yourself."

He's talking to the stars, one star in particular which flickers weakly compared to the rest.

He wants a story.

"...I want to know what other people have to share about their lives. I want to know what they all have to say, I myself don't have anything to say like they do.

I'm just clinging onto my life like I do to the memories I've made, since they're nothing worth sharing like everybody else's."

I never thought myself worthy enough to share any, but if he wants a show, then I'll dance with the constellations.

They're a tricky thing ; something I don't think that people would like to test on a regular basis.

It was something foreign to me - so crossed in my mind because everyone's seen me as such an asshole they've never thought that I had any. And due to that, I did too. You begin to believe what people tell you after being told that millions and millions of times. They called me heartless and a bitch (which, I am one, don't get me wrong).

A cold shift flew through the room for a moment, causing a shiver to escape from my body and a small huff of a sigh. I wondered; what if we were each other's strength's? Kristian knows how to shut up. I know how to stand up for myself. Maybe I can test that.

"It's been years since I've been able to say that I had a good day. A genuinely good one. Not one where you say, 'yeah, today was good' and just leave it at that.

I mean a good day, where you can look back at it hours later and smile just as bright as you did then."

And after the routine finishes does the star blink--I take a quick glance at his face for any sign of a reaction to the words he wanted to hear.

He shivers and sighs from the coolness of the night that blankets him, but I think he was watching the sky, listened intently to what I had to say. The way the twinkling specks of light above him fluttered about the darkness must've intrigued him. Made him think. Something I never thought possible if I was the one who took on the role of the storyteller,

but he wanted to know

and now that this has become reality what came out of it is something far from what I expected.

"It's been years since I've been able to say that I had a good day. A genuinely good one. Not one where you say, 'yeah, today was good' and just leave it at that.

My story touched him. It drew another one from his own breaths this time, one of feeling and I know exactly what he's describing.

I mean a good day, where you can look back at it hours later and smile just as bright as you did then."

If he had said anything else but what he speaks to me now, I wouldn't have trusted him; but maybe he is affecting my troubled being because then I laugh like he did.

Something warm, that's it. He is--

"...you're the sun, Mars." and I look at him.

"People can get hurt from staring right into your spirit, but only because they don't understand that it's more.

Much more.

It's more than just a bright ball of gas, there's passion behind it. There's a reason why it burns so ferociously.

They just can't look beyond what they see."

That's some realist shit right there.

But it's sweet- kind. Kristian has the greatest heart of gold of them all and I think that I might actually enjoy this. Crazy as fuck. Right?

I feel like this combination of emotions and feelings that seems to be swirling around us like a sandstorm is a sign. We're totally different people. I don't know how to shut up. He knows how to shut up. I know how to protect myself and he can't protect himself that well.

It's like a pair meant for the battlefield; one that will be automatically, permanently, and overall the most efficient ways of learning the way of this battlefield.

But then there's
silence.

Moments that feel like forever, the silence instills fear, Mars' silhouette in front of a starlit sky--it all twists and warps into roaring waves of anger and it feels like I've failed to give him a better landscape or a better sky to stare into, think about, it feels like I'm gonna

Why does he leave not trails of raging fire inside a worn down appliance of a soul, but instead warm embers which tingle and tickle at the gears? Why did he draw out breaths out of my lungs but only to hear my own experiences that are nothing but a frail speck in the universe of everybody else's? Why did he lead me to paint a picture he fits into, why did he say what he just said?

Maybe it's because I don't feel like myself right now, but why do I feel a genuine sense of warmth emanating from within me when I typically shouldn't be?

Why has he managed to let himself in?

I close my eyes, a shaky sigh, and I...

"I don't like having to say these words."

I'm drawn to his heat, but not too intimately. I only scoot over and reposition myself so I can rest my head gently against his chest, eyes moving through the entire ceiling before it as the pleasant sensation mixed with Mars' now wraps itself around me.

"...But maybe they were right about us needing each other."
