Frustration was a commonality for Helia as walks around the district were harder now than they ever were before. Her body no longer walked in smooth steps rather mimicked a disgruntled drunk, which caused her skin to boil as anger was easier to muster up than joy now. This walk was supposed to clear her thoughts and allow herself a quiet moment of peace, but all it was doing was creating more of an excuse to curse beneath her breath for a life she was now forced to live.

She would have cursed louder if a part of her old self was not still fighting for control within her. She wanted to be the girl that ran across the fields and danced within the streets of her district, but both of those things were still being worked towards at this time; to run was to guarantee a fall and to dance was to guarantee a mistake.

Her body ached to be able to gasp for breath after a long run, but the only time her breath was struggling to be caught was when she held it. It was a game she often played silently in her room with eyes tightly closed and mind drifting back to a memory as she would put herself back together. Her opinion of whether it was a game or torture went back-and-forth with her mood, but she knew one thing for sure; she loved being able to dream of before.

Today the district seemed to be sleeping as hardly anyone was spotted along her path to the forest's edge, causing little concern as she continued on. It was almost as if she were sleep-walking with the absence of another girl or boy from her district present, and she began to question if she were still in a deep slumber in her bed when light taps caught her attention. The taps being in a random beat as she followed them until a small boy came into view. He seemed to be alone with his thoughts like herself, throwing rocks up at glass until it shattered.

A smile washed across her lips as she watched the boy lung his arm back and forward so quickly that she expected the entire building to fall under his determination to throw the rock, laughing aloud when more glass shattered.

" Are you trying to get in trouble? " Helia shouted from where she stood before sliding over a few fallen trees to close the distance between them. " I mean – I know a few quicker options to get the peacekeepers after you. "

I was having such a good time! My mom had let me do what I wanted that day, and go wherever I wanted to go. All by myself! Yaaay!

Of course, my favorite thing to do when I'm free , is to throw rocks. So I went down by the abandoned parts of my district to see if I could find a new house to throw rocks at. And boy did I find it!

Right there, right by the edge of the abandoned neighborhood that I always go to to destroy things, was the perfect house. It was tall, but not so tall that most of the windows would be too far for me. Old, but not so old that it would give me mold deceases or something. And wow some those windows would sure look great with a bear drawn on them and then shattered. Which is how they will be when I'm done with them.

I emptied my jeans pockets. My pockets are where I've always kept my supplies for this; my crayon that weirdly works on windows, my granite chunks, an old candy bar( for snacks) and a small juice box (dehydration is bad, my mom always says). I set everything up real carefully. Neat even. I briefly wondered what my mom would think if she how neat I was being. Probably," Why aren't you like this with everything, Michael" or," breaking windows is wrong don't do that, Michael ". I shrugged at the thought and continued on.

After I'd drawn the bear on the window (it kinda looks more like a dog than a bear but I don't mind) and got in a few good throws to the window, I was feeling pretty good about myself. I even found a crack on the window! The idea of coming victory, made me happy. Every throw from that point was stronger, with more force behind it. I began imagining myself as a great hero. A hero who uses his rocks to protect his family from bears. I could call myself Mickey the um.. uh.. Mickey the destroyer who is good! Yes!

When I finally reached victory and heard the mighty bear/window's death roar/ shattering, I was filled with so much happy that I just started chucking rocks at every window I could find, cheering at every shattering. It was almost like I was on drugs or something haha whatever those are.

Suddenly I heard someone's voice, " Are you trying to get in trouble?".

I was so scared that I dropped my rocks everywhere and almost peed. I turned around to see a girl, she looked older, like almost not reaping age level anymore older. Which is like, practically ancient. I turned around to see the girl slide over some trees that had fallen in a scary storm earlier in the week.
She was practically right in front of me when she said, " I mean – I know a few quicker options to get the peacekeepers after you."

I looked at her and tilted my head a little. Peacekeepers? I hadn't thought of that. Would they really go after a good destroyer like me? I didn't think so, but this lady obviously thought so and she was older, she probably knew better.

"Oh, but, I just like breaking things and the peacekeepers have never been after me before. I go here all the time to do this. It's fun", I said

Then I got an idea. I go to pick up my dropped rocks and then offer her one.

" Do you want to try?", I ask.
