they say to me
that they will forgive me
when hell freezes over
but i work in hell, and it is frozen

the front of my life
is a butchery joint
where people come
to buy meat
for their starving families

the other side
is dark
and cold
and my family hates me
and they have cast me aside because they say it is wrong
but this whole world is wrong
and i'm just trying to survive

the ill
the sick,
they believe that the cure
is unreachable
and that the answer
is in the future

so they come
to be frozen
to wait in the cold
cryogenically animated
until the day comes
that they can be healed

but that day will never come
and everything they hand over to me
in good faith
is sold
for my own benefit

because the diseased are as good as dead
and what is the point
in them dying
and all their belongings
and money
going to waste
going to nothing
when they can help the rest of us

and this is why
they ask me
if it is cold in hell

because it is
and i don't mind it
