The time for us tributes in the Training Center was running low. As the days passed by, we inched closer and closer to the deaths of twenty-three innocent and not-so-innocent teenagers in the Capitol's arena of choice. Whatever they may throw at us, we must try to survive, and for many, all we have for combat and survival skills are what we have picked up in this building full of many stations. While others have their career training, not all of us have grown up with that luxury. This meant that we had to either rush to fit in as many skills as we could, or hone one craft that may not even help us in the long run.

I'd practiced enough with javelins in the first few days, and other, non-weaponry related stations on the days that followed, so I figured it was best for me to move onto something else that could help me that I hadn't yet attempted with. This is why, that morning, when I awoke and immediately headed to the Training Center, I settled on using the swords. I'd always been strong, so I knew I'd have no trouble lifting one. That was certain. I also knew that I'd have the force to swing it at a target when need be.

When it came to throwing things, I knew I was quite accurate after the training I'd done earlier on, but now I knew I needed to try another type of weaponry that was more close-range. This is why I settled on the sword. As I made my way over to the station, I selected a rather heavy-looking sword with a sharp, silver blade, gleaming under all the florescent lights in the room. I could see another individual near the swords as well, but I did my best to ignore her, and lifted the sword, swinging it at a human-shaped target. It connected, making quite the deep gash on its chest.
