Blood mixes onto rock with a crimson glare.

Life. Death. Both were beautiful in different ways, but he never understood the way that blood oxidizes into that deep red. Others watching knew this sight too well. Blood mixing with pain and pain mixing with red. Ronan's scythe glitters against the glaring sun as the sound of water in his ears rushes past. Girly was a killer, but he still hadn't killed a single thing since entering the arena. No wonder Stanley didn't call him Death. Rory deserved the title more than him. A hum in the back of his throat as Raven calls out into the air before giving a small hit to the mutt that he had just attacked.

"Just two more to go."

Two more mutts left until the gamemakers can feel happy with the outcome and fuck off for the rest of the evening. Those fuckers didn't know what they were giving him when that five had came across the screen brightly. A five for smoking a cigarette. The smoke on his own puffing out before he pulls it from his lips and drops it onto the ground. Ash left behind on the rocky terrain as he can hear Rory speaking to him now.

"Forget them, Ronan." A rare glance in the midst of a battle. "Everyone else will." Cowardly men and women don't get to matter in their eyes. Rory was right, except he can't shake the fact of his own cowardice years ago in the flames of an opera house and the screams of an adopted brother yelling in his face. Crashing echoes of those words and dreams breaking to the ground as he stood his ground with smoke blown into his cousin's face. The bite of running away from his own dream because he was scared of his own mother's reaction. After all, she had thrown him into the pysch ward.

The place where they diagnosed him and wouldn't let him leave.

All of this because of his best friend who he had known when he was nothing more than a boy and stood too low to the ground. Playing in Six with others in school, talking about dreams and wishes for the distant future as if they could reach that future in the palms of their hands. If only he had been wiser back then, then she wouldn't be gone.

A shake of his head as Rory seems to have her own thoughts about Severus' wounds. The words ringing in his ears. "You don't get to hurt him anymore." No one gets to hurt Severus anymore. A hum on his lips in agreement before she cuts deep into the second dog's head leaving a crimson legacy to her words behind.

Severus is next to reach the air.

"You should go," The words reach his ears as he glances from Severus to Leticia. "who knows what would have to happen if the last of these beasts die leaving just us alone with you." Deep down, Ronan knows Severus is right. Aeson Kight would attack. Ansel Khiev would have killed her. A moment of silence fills his lips as he watches Severus swing his scythe forward like Pestilence or was it Famine? He couldn't tell which one it was, except the mutt's entire leg comes clean off.

Eyes glance to Leticia as he can feel himself remembering her past of what she would have become if she were still in Six. A baker like her father. Similar path of his own, except a doctor like his mother. An unspoken moment before he gives into the moment for too long. The creatures strike him and Raven. The crimson of his thigh comes forth and he grits his teeth remembering what it was like to bleed onto this earth. Raven's own wound looks just as bad if not worse than his own.

"Fuck." The word slips from his lips in a moment of weakness before he picks himself back up and speaks to Leticia after staring at the dead condor for a second too long and recuperating his own pain. She could live longer just like him. They could get through this. Would Teddy be watching them? Would he be proud? Ripred, he's never had anyone be proud of him. A small flash of a smile seems to come and go as fast. Words spill from his lips.

"Girly, get out of here! We'll be okay here!" Eyes flash to his allies and then the mutts and then back to his district partner. "After all, we wouldn't want you to take the full wrath of the four horsemen of the apocalypse, would we now." A smirk on his lips before he drops it and gives a more serious glance and almost whispers the words hoping only Leticia would be able to hear him. "Keep on surviving, Leticia."

Focus changes back to the mutts that had taken blood from his allies. Severus. Raven. Himself. No one gets to decide to hurt them, except himself. Anger flashes across his skin as he remembers the way his mother used to yell at him and his own voice coming back at her. The blind fury behind it filling his vision before he looks to Raven and then looks to the mutt that had hit her. Fuck the one that hit him. Right now, he knew that anything that touched one of his allies was a fucker who would pay for that disrespect.

"Fucker! You don't get to decide to take blood unless I fucking say so!" He swings the scythe at the beast with anger flaring in his veins.

"Fuck off!"
