Kimmy "Kim" Stevens || District 6 || FIN

Its hard growing up without parents to be there for all the good moments.

A young blood, rough and tumble girl that learned how to protect herself at a young age, no one could hold a candle to her when it came to school. She would answer all the questions with ease, and even when she was confronted by the children that lurked through the halls, she found her way around them.

She did not care what they had to say, because anything was possible for her. She could take the beating, suffer through the words and come out as a stronger person. She was born to be great. That is what she was told.

But her parents were never really around to take care of her. She was always dumped into the arms of relatives while they attempted to save other lives of the district. Relationships with their children be damned all the way till Sunday. That was what they claimed. If they could save a life before having to share their love, they would take it in a heartbeat.

Kimmy would never understand it.

She finished school young, but most of the kids in six did. It wasn’t anything special, seeing as most of the children here aspired to help people in need. Knowledge was power here, and Kimmy had so much of it.

She knew what others said about her, that she was different. Smart as a cookie, but weird as shit. She would hold barriers over herself to make sure no one broke in, even the ones who actually treated her with dignity could not get past her empty thank yous and countless excuses. She didn’t trust people, because she didn’t know what trust, or love for that fact, was.

All of it was a foreign concept.

She wasn’t always like this, well, that’s a lie. She was. She was always the type of girl that wanted to keep her arms distance from things because that is what her parents did to her, but eventually she learned to grow out of it.

She just wished that it would have happened in a different way.

They found her while she was making her way to the college of six. If that’s what you would call it. They knew enough about her to entice her into a conversation, and they told her that they were willing to give her what she had always wanted as long as she could complete a small task for them.

She was intrigued enough to take the package from them, and she was told to drop it in front of the mayors office as inconspicuously as possible.

She looked at the person with the most somber look she could muster. There was always a better plan, she knew that, and she had a feeling that this guy knew it too. He probably just wanted to see what she could do.

Well, Kimmy was bold, and she always thought about the fine details of any instructions that she was given. Obviously this was a test of her grit, and while most people would have probably taken their chances and just done what they were told, she figured that she could find a way around that. She could do better then just what she was supposed to do.

And she did.

She was brazen while she knocked on the mayor’s door. She smiled lightly and reintroduced herself to them. You see, Kimmy had met the mayor a handful of times. The time her parents did spend time at home, it was to entertain the important people of six, and that’s when she was happiest, because that was when her parents acted like they loved her.

Every other time they were home, it was to sleep, or berate Kimmy and her brothers on any small detail.

She handed them the envelope, claiming that they left it at her place a couple nights ago and it was imperative that they got it back. The mayor looked at her suspiciously, but with a sudden flicker of her eyes, they realized that they should probably take it.

So when she walked out without the envelope, she smirked as she waited behind the building to be approached. When the person of interest had realized that she had already been back there, he couldn’t help but admit that he was impressed.

Kimmy on the other hand was curious. She wanted to know more about what he did, and he simply told her that they would be in touch.

And they were.

She was enveloped into a world that she had known nothing about. She was given simple tasks by people that she thought the worst of. Run something here, watch another person there, maybe throw a punch or two. The thing was, Kimmy wasn’t really the one to make things easy on herself. Why?

Because she knew that anything was possible as long as she thought about it. She was able to break simple tasks down to the most complicated facets, sometimes doing more than she actually needed to do.

She didn’t even explain herself when they asked her too. She just went on her next assignment, and in a way, they found respect in her for that.

They introduced her to fighting, and like school, she excelled in it after a little trial and error. She was able to find weaknesses in people that most wouldn’t think of, and when she knew she was beat, she wouldn’t continue anymore than she had too. She was tactical and tacit all in one.

Those faults are what made her rise quickly, that and her immense intellect when it came to figuring out ways to drop off things inconspicuously. A bloodhound who was facing people who were stupider than her, that is what she felt was the cornerstone of the life she was living.

Her parents didn’t pay much mind to her, even though she was rarely home. She wondered if she needed to lose them in order to get them to love her?

She didn’t know, and at this point, she found it easier to just leave.

She found a family that cared about her more than her blood ever would.

She moved on to bigger and better things, and she was still so young. To think that she had already become a lieutenant in such a short amount of time. She was vicious in every way of the word.

However, she wouldn’t show you that side if you didn’t provoke her for it.

She would wait her turn, and pounce when the time came.

Because she no longer Kimmy, the girl who didn’t take risks, and waited for things to fall into her lap.

She was Kim. A girl who took the world into her own hands, and exuded a quiet fear that she only saved for the cruelest kinds of people.

So call her Kim.
