"Of course I know what they are. They're the same ones Daemon picked up for us the other day. Food, since it's not like we have anything better to eat."

Kahinta tries, she does, but she can feel the slow slide of her eyes up and back in her head as he continues to make noise. What an idiot. Just like Daemon, he thinks, as if Daemon has half as much stupid in him as Oberon does.

"Right, just like Daemon, because you gathered two bundles of edible plants and one that will make you see things that aren't there. Just like Daemon. Got it," she replies, the words sharp and sarcastic against her tongue, too many days without food and in need of water. With another roll of her eyes, Kahinta drops his bag back at his side, tossing the hallucinogenic ones on the ground nearby. "Why don't you find us some more then, huh? If you're the expert now?"

With a sigh, she turns around and takes another swing at the bird that's circling, wishing she hadn't been left alone and contemplating the benefit of leaving or getting rid of Oberon entirely.

Kahinta wonders what their mentors must be thinking as she watches Oberon walk away with a huff tossed in her direction. Are they shaking their heads, or screaming at the screens, or wondering when she and Oberon are going to finally quit with the squabbling and turn to actual blows.

It seems closer by the day.

One goose is wrangled by her feet, and she jumps in an attempt to catch another and misses.

While Daemon had never outright stopped any of their sniping, he'd still been another force for keeping them together, a reason to not blow up their alliance over an urn of water being taken out of a bag. She didn't know quite what it was with her and Oberon that made them go at each other with every fucking sentence that came out of their mouths.

She couldn't wait for Daemon to be back.

She hoped Daemon would be back.

Instead, Oberon returns with a here thrown in her direction, three more plants in hand. This time, she doesn't even bother with rolling her eyes. She reaches out and slaps the plants from his hand with a frown, knocking them to the ground.

"You idiot, you eat any of those, you die!"

Hearing Oberon talk about food makes her stomach rumble in way it hasn't in… she would say days, but it's been long enough without food that every few hours she's feeling it like she used to when she was little and there were food shortages. More than anything, she misses her mother's cooking. Kahinta shuffles in her place a little, eyes going a bit distant as the severe look on her face drops.

"Y'know, my mom had this recipe… Really good chocolate chip cookies, if we ever had the ability to splurge. It wasn't often, maybe every few years, but..."

She trails off, looking down at her feet before looking off in the direction of the invisible wall.

"Mace, could you send us some butter, white sugar, brown sugar, vanilla extract, some eggs, some flour, baking soda and baking powder, and some chocolate chips? I know that's a lot to ask, but… I don't know. Something?"

It's a little while later, after another attempt to catch a word, water boiled and put away, the fire just being used for warmth, when the package arrives. Oberon's to it first, and opening it to dig his fingers in before she has the ability to tell him to stop.

"They sent us food! Not what you asked for, but this thing tastes like cookies!"

"Get your hands off!" she says, standing up to shuffle the distance to his side, flapping her hands over his to stop him. "We need to bake them first. I have a fucking pot, man. We can at least cook it."

It takes a little bit for the pot to heat, and Kahinta keeps the cookie dough on her as they wait, her other hand periodically raising the bottle of apple schnapps to her lips. It's getting close to its end anyway, and Kahinta takes a larger sip before setting it down and adding blobs of cookie dough to the pan to let it start to cook through. They wait, and in the in-between Kahinta checks the rest of the package, eyes narrowing as she starts to go down the list she had named.

"I didn't ask for any of this, but we could... We could make smoke bombs with this, easy." It's probably the alcohol, but Kahinta finds herself smiling in Oberon's direction for the first time in days. "Maybe it's time for us to do the trapping."
