{ walherich cnáimhín ; "i know i'm only passing through." |
Her response seemed automated, the speed it which she had sent it at him.
"Everyone's words are different. But right now, I care about yours because I just — if I have to kill people, I don't want them to be complete strangers to me."
But if they were going to die; what did knowing them provide for the girl from ten? She would never speak to them again. Never have to see their eyes or feel their presence. There were many things about that statement that confused him. Why would she care about knowing them? It’s not like they mattered. Their deaths’ were the most important thing for her to survive, after all. Maybe she wanted to be able to give a speech to them on the tour.
Who knows? The male wouldn’t be able to live to see.
"I feel like if I don't know who someone is, then maybe one day, their deaths would mean less to me because I won't feel the true impact of what I've done. Killing should always mean something."
Oh.
Well, that made a lot more sense than he originally thought it would’ve. He was taken back by the statement but he understood what she meant. It was hard to try and learn everything from people when it was life or death, though, because they didn’t want their opponent to know their demons and their weaknesses. That’s why he never spoke; he gave things away easier than anyone else. That wasn’t going to be his problem anymore. He’d be dead within the next five minutes. Unless a miracle happened. That required a God, though, and that proves a problem itself.
There is no God when death consumes you.
”I think you know as much about me as you need to. And if you don’t, consider meeting Kiki. She’s a wonderful girl.”
The breath following that was shaky, almost a sad sigh. He knew this was the last time he’d say her name and think of it.
{i think i’ll miss her the most.}
His grip never left his sword, because his faith never left God, despite no such thing existing.
”Tell Kiki that I’ll miss her.”
She’ll need to hear it more than once.
