Name: Sophia Landros
Age: 12
Gender: Female
District/Area: District 4
Appearance:
Some would say Sophia sticks out of her family like a sore thumb, while most would say that’s impossible because she’s so tiny. It was difficult to explain because what made her so different was her height and innocence. As if the twelve year old was a few years younger she stood at a small 4’10, and after a big meal, as she often loved to have, she could possibly weigh 80 pounds. Everyone in the family had fast metabolisms though, being Careers and all. The only differences was the rest were tall, muscular and brunets.Personality:
Little Sophia looks exactly like her mom with golden hair, and inability to get a tan or grow muscle. It was as if Sophia was conceived from another Father, her tight curls being a questionable genetic no one else has. The spiral locks framed the baby cheeks perfectly though, with an adorable button nose and dimples at every smile topping it off. It was difficult to tame the curls though, often scattered in front of her face, impairing her vision, and blocking the hazel-yellow colored eyes from everyone else. For special occasions her mother would spend hours straightening Sophia’s long hair, and even promised they would get up early to do it for her first reaping.
At the first sight of tiny Sophia most people’s first impression on what she’s like is correct when they actually meet her. The innocence has the bubbly, free-willed attitude stitched with it. For most people it brings a smile to their faces, even in the worst situations, seeing Sophia’s own face lighting up with a smile that revealed her dimples. A smile was more helpful then a frown she believed, showing her lack of knowledge towards the real world. Maybe that was why everyone felt the need to keep Sophia out of serious conversations and problems, results in her child like attitude. The one thing people never expect is for the little girl to be a Career.History:
Even going to training there was always a dance in Sophia’s walk; oblivious to the fact she was going to waist another afternoon. As much as she tried Sophia was incapable of growing muscle, but continued to go everyday. The only talents for her Career resume being able to outrun everyone and climb like a monkey. Though seeming strong about her title as a Career, to be like the rest of her family, Sophia constantly wakes up in the middle of the night from a horrible nightmare about the hunger games; being reaped, in the bloodbath, mutts. Every night waking up with a fright, though she refused to tell anyone. It was her fear over violence, in hope that in the Arena that type of thinking would vanish. A knife was too beautiful and sparkly to throw with the goal of hurting someone.
Certainly Sophia couldn’t fully be the baby angel everyone saw her as; underneath her bed lays a box filled with her treasures. Anything that had a sparkle, shine, or glitter needed to be in her possession for some reason, anything from jewelry, to a gum wrapper. No one expects a little innocent girl to be a thief, which was probably why she was able to get away with it so much, it didn’t help that she was really sneaky. Sometimes guilt would over come Sophia, but as soon as she held the object in her tiny hands she instantly thought of a reason why she needed it. Sophia was waiting for the perfect day and time to take her very own knife, though the last thing she would do is actually use it.
Everything was completely normal the day Sophia was born, an easy natural birth followed by a healthy baby, except that she only weighed three pounds. There was no explanation for such a thing because nothing was wrong, right on time and absolutely no problems. The very next day the tiny baby was brought home to be raised just like any other child, just continued to stay tiny. Always the smallest in class and a few inches shorter, Sophia was simply cursed to look a few years younger. The only issue was everyone in the Landros’s family was a Career to bring fame and fortune to their parents.Codeword: odiar
So yes, the little girl was put into training. Told by her parents she had just as much of a chance as the rest, patted on the head and sent back to try again. Every sibling was given high encouragement, which was probably why Sophia actually believed them. Everyday she went skipping off in any direction the wind toke her, being a Career was growing in District Four along with all the Career Gyms. Eventually she’d arrive to one, usually one that expected her, because Sophia tended to be spotted by a lot of people during training. It was pity because a small innocent girl is a Career, some people would stop and look at her struggle only thinking that she would never have a chance in the Arena.
One day while Sophia was doing one of the rare things she could actually do well, a slip up happens and Sophia takes a pretty big fall off the rope she was climbing. It only toke a minute or two for the stars to fade away, and the little girl was upon her feet again and taking a bow for the audience that stopped to watch. Even after proving her ability of being fine, Sophia was still sent home for some rest. Certain her parents would of already received the call on what happened, along with her poor progress; Sophia didn’t give her usual loud introduction of being home. Instead tip toed up to her room, only to be stopped by the sound of her Mother and Father talking in the living room, making her want to stop and listen when her own name is mentioned.
“No, we can’t sign up baby Sophia for all of the tessera!” The Mother of the household begged, attempting to hold back the tears. “That would kill her.”
“But if she goes in this year its bond to get publicity.” Father then explained. “Then one of the others are destined to get chosen and bring us home a victor!” That was it because Sophia’s Mother began balling, filling the household with cries and blocking the ability to hear more. But the tears only meant one thing; Father always gets what he wants.
Running to her room, Sophia buried her baby-face in her pillow as tears rolled down her chubby cheeks. It felt as if Sophia Landros was already pulled from the giant ball along with the realization no one thought she had a chance. The very next day Sophia skipped off to training as if nothing happened, with a giant smile plastered to her face. There had to be away to escape, until then Sophia felt the need to train for the worst.
